    Rosa Parks
    Rosa Parks was born in 1913 in Alabama on December 1, 1955. She refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white passenger, after a long day. Her efforts to end segregation integrated buses after a year of bus boycotting. Rosa joined the NAACP,also in 1992, Rosa published a book about living with segregation. She got many awards including the Marlin Luther King Jr. Award. The impact that she left on America is to use nonviolent protest as a method of social equality.

    In the 1940s the first TV was made. In the beginning of the 1940s there were about 17,000 TVs in the US.Several years later there were aver 50 million TVs. Many lifestyles changed when the TV was made, there was more staying inside homes instead of going outside. Many new shows came on making there be more acting careers available. There were many trivia Tv shows that families enjoyed. This was important because it changed lifestyles and careers.

    The main countries in the United Nations are the U.S.A, England, France, Russia, and China. It was a Peace Organization, that worked to solve disputes between countries. This happened in New York in 1945. This event helped in many ways so there was not a lot of fighting and other problems were solved.This event was important because it helped with politics and helped solve problems that happened in other countries about government and many other things.

    This event started when the Soviet Union gave Cuba weapons and built missile bases. JFK told the Americans about the sites, this caused Americans to be scared and panic. Soviet ships were sent to Cuba by Nikita Khrushchev. While the ships were going to Cuba American ships made a blockade, Soviet Union turned back. Soviet Union and America disarmed missiles. This event was the closest the world has ever come to a nuclear war. This event is important because it embarrassed the United States.

    Nixon former president of Eisenhower promised "Peace and honor" in Vietnam. He promised "Law and Order" at home. He won the election of 1968 v.s. Hubert Humphrey. Nixon used federal funds to help Local departments. He backed off of Great Society because it was expensive. This increased government spending money. Named 4 justices to the Supreme Court. This man is important because he did many great things for the U.S. It is also political because there was a lot of trading and treaties signed.

    On July 20, 1969 at 4:17 pm Neil Armstrong,Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins took off in a space ship to head to the moon. 600 million viewers were watching the sight. When the astronauts got to space Neil Armstrong was the first to step foot on the moon at 1056 pm. They explained when they landed they left a crater a foot deep. They planted an American flag on the moon and gathered samples from the surface for study. The United States was the first to make it to the moon.

    On May 4, 1970 an Ohio school of 21,000 students peaceful protested against Nixon's pledge to send troops to Cambodia. Police got involved. National guardsmen attempted to disperse the crowd and were met with hostile chants and rock throwing. 61 bullets were fired into crowd. Left 4 students were killed and 9 wounded. This is important because it left innocent people harmed. This is political because the guardsmen were not blamed for their harsh actions that were taken out on the crowd.

    On June 17, 1972 there was a burglary in D.C. 5 men broke in to the Democrat headquarters. When they left they left the door open. Nixon said he knew nothing about this. Secret tape recordings found in Nixon's office. The man that recorded name was William Mark Felt. On July 1974 Nixon goes to trial for impeachment. On August 1974 he resigned from office. This is important because Nixon was the first president to resign from office. This is Political because it it was in secret with the gov.

    As a child Jimmy carter attended segregated schools. Jimmy carter was in office form 1976-1980,he was with the democrat party. Before being elected president he was the governor of Georgia. His biggest event was the Helsinki agreement, also the Olympic Boycott. He is also known for the Social Security Act, Camp David Accords, Salt ll, and many other things. Jimmy was a great president who will always be remembered for all the great things he did for our country.

    The Warsaw Pact is when the Soviet Unions Military Alliance set up to go up against the the NATO. This event started in May 1955 by the Soviet Union and the Satellite countries around the world. This Pacts ended in 1991. This was important because there was fighting and there was disagreeing between countries all over the world.

    In August of 1990 Saddam Hussein sent 100,000 troops into Kuwait. Kuwait us a rich oil producer. We wanted to prevent Iraq from spreading it's influence in the middle ages. On January 16, 1991 the United Nations launched an air attack called desert storm. 28 countries joined. Within 24 hours Iraq missiles were hopeless. The war ended 6 weeks later in February 1991. 382 Americans died. The impact was that it cost billions to repair. This is political because many people died it was a war.

    The NATO was a North Treaty Organization. All the members agreed to help one another if they were ever attacked. This was founded in April 1949 by the WW2 Allies. The headquarters are located in Brussels, Belgium. This treaty was important because it allowed the allies to help each other in hard times and when there was fighting they could come together and help.

    On August 29, 2005, the costliest U.S. hurricane on record. It was recorded as a category 5 but as it reached land it became a category 3 hurricane, there were winds up to 157-175 mph. The water broke through due to the break of the levee, water flooded the New Orleans. 80% of the city was flooded, in damage there was $81 billion worth. 150,000 homes destroyed, 900+ churches destroyed.This is Political because more than 70 countries pledged donations. This is important because many people died.

    In 2008 the world faced a crisis since the great depression in 1930. Banks trusted no one to pay them back, and they stopped making loans. Began with mortgage dealers who issued mortgages with borrowers couldn't pay, so they went foreclosure. Insurance companies traded fro credit swaps this made millions of $s. The deep recession had take n over most of the world. The U.S. lost nearly 2 million jobs and the unemployment rate shot up. This is political, it deals with money and financials.
