Birth
George Eastmen was born on July 12, 1854 to his Mother, Maria Kilbourn and his Father. -
Father's Death
George Eastman's Father died when he was just about nine years old. Things got kind of bad after his death. They were nearly penniless. -
Messenger Boy
In 1867, when Geroge was 13, an insurance agent offered Geroge a job as a messenger boy. His mother had to let his son take the job. -
Picture Taken
Once George had his picture tken and he had given it to his mother and his Sunday School teacher. This is where his passion began. -
Out in the Contry Taking Pictures
In 1870 George Eastman decided to buy a camra with all the things he needed to take pictures in the contry. There ws no film the 1870's they used glass plates. He went and took wonderful pictures. -
The Bank
George got a job at the Bank. He was making 35 dollars a month. His mother was barly keeping together and with the help of her son got back on her feet. -
Photography
This is when Photography began to amaze him most. he took many pictures during his free time. He hated though that you had to carry, and drag so much stuff. Then almost suffocate yourself to develope the pictures! He did like the ending results though. -
Leaving the Bank
In 1880 George decided to leave the bank, he got a job there after the messenger job, and he was going to open a dry- plate business for the camra. He did not like the fact that he had to carry around so much stuff to take a picture he dreamed of a way. -
Dry Plates
In 1886 George's work paid off he invented the dry plates. Everyone wanted them! Although, he still wanted to find and eiser way to take pictures! He was working long hours night and day sometimes not getting any sleep. He is dertermined to invent something everyone would want. -
Film
In 1887 George had invented a slick type paper called film. All he had to do was stick the film into the camra and he would take many many pictures! Finally, no more carrying around dark blankets and fragile plates! -
Kodak Camra
IN 1888 George introduced his new camra called the Kodak. All he had to do was clikc the botton at the top of the camra and, CLICK, the picture was taken. After the camra's film was all used up the person could send the camra to his company nd have them developed then send the camra back, with new film in it, and take more fun pictures! -
The Eastman Kodak Factory
In December, 1889 The Eastman Kodak Company was incorperated. By now, Geroge's company was worht one million dollars! -
New Film
During 1891, the Eastman Kodak Company introduced a new film. The old film had to be put in the camra in dark. Now the photographer could put it in in daylight! Now they didn't have to ship the camra back to the company! -
The Falcon
In 1896 George made a new camra called The Falcon. It was pretty inexpensive too. Only five dollars. Everyone wanted one. -
The Brownie
In 1900 George made The Brownie, a small camra intended for children, though some adults used it too. It was only 1$! That is sweeter than brownies that's for sure. -
Continued
Geroge continued to do many things. He was still working on projects in his factory though. He made many experiments. He even burned a hole through the floor! -
A Big House
Goerge had enough mony to build his own mansion. That is what he did. He built it for his mother. He filled the gardens with flowers and did more to make it perfect. -
Mother's Death
In 1918 George's mother only had little time to enjoy her mansion because she died in 1918. Geroge was devistated but he kept it going with the Kodak company. -
Moving!
Geroge took on camping he camped and practivly lived in the woods. He couls just be Goerge. He could be himself. -
Death
In 1932 Geroge Eastman died. He invented the camra, film, and many other things that we still use today. We will remember George Eastman.
