The Louisiana Purchase was a land deal between the U.S. and France in where U.S. gained 827,000 miles of land west of the Mississipi. This was important because it led to further expansion of how the U.S. continued to move west. It compares with Geography because its a mass movement towards the west. -
Nat Turners Rebellion
It was a slave rebellion that was led by Nat Turner, as they rebelled and killed 55-65 people, and it was stoppedvery shortly thereafter. It is important because it was a major rebellion that had a historic signigfigance during the time. This relates to Politics and Power in showing how it was an event that dealt with rights, and equality for african americans. -
Election of 1844
The Election of 1844 was a preesidential election involving James Polk and notable whig leader Henry Clay in a close race that led to a slavery expansion idea. It was important because the presidency at the time had to deal with crisis of unfair slaves. It relates to Politics, and power and how it refers to the political choices, and many issues that dealth with the situation. -
Mexican Cession
Mexican Cession is reigion of southwest U.S. that Mexico ceded during the Treaty of Guadalupe Hildago, and was the third largest land aquisition deal in the United States. This is important because it added more land to the United States, and had more of an expansion of new territory. It relates to geogrpahy cause of the location, of where land has expanded too. -
Underground Railroad
The Underground Railroad was secret routes and safe house used for ecaping slaves, and help them escape to free states or Canada. It was important because it led the slaves to another direction, and fleeing being treated like misfits. This can relate to peopling because its a movement of slaves trying to flee slave states, and become free at last. -
Bleeding Kansas
Bleeding Kansas was a violent political confrontations involving Anti-Slaves and Pro Slaves, elements in Kansas from 1854-1861. It was importatn because it introduced popular soverignty, and it just impacted the Kansas-Nebraska Act. It relates to identity because it sees the people who were all apart of Bleeding Kansas all those years, and then how it impacted it as well. -
Election of Lincoln 1860
It was the election of 1860 which Lincoln was selected during a time which the Civil War was at hand so being president was Lincolns priority to set the record. It was important because Lincoln led the Union to success against the Confederacy, and further started becoming one of the greater presidents. Politics and Power and how it relates to the election, and how it impacted the Civil War, and America.
