Our father had us do chores all of the time. We asked why we had to do chores when other kids did not have to. He told us that it was to show us how to work hard and build character. -
The fire of leaves
As Haileab was raking up the leaves in the park he built up a big pile. He didn't want to throw them away in the dumpster, so as back in his homeland he decided to burn them. The fire department came roaring their sirens. This scared him, he pleaded for them not to take him to jail. They took mercy on him realizing that he intended no harm and just gave him only a warning. -
My father became dependent on others.
My father who had been a hero, helping so many people with love in his heart. I watched him over the years wear down and become dependent on others. I felt sorry for him, watching his unmanning was a hard thing to watch.
