Avram Noam Chomsky was born on December 7, 1928, in the affluent East Oak Lane neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. -
The most outstanding figures
He has been one of the most outstanding figures of twentieth-century linguistics, thanks to his work in linguistics and cognitive science theory. -
Studies
He has studied philosophy, linguistics and mathematics at the University of Pennsylvania since 1945. -
Doctorate
One of his teachers was the philosopher Nelson Goodman, who later presented at the Society of Fellows at Harvard. He received his doctorate in 1955. -
Publication of Syntactic Structures work
In 1957, only 29 years Chomsky revolutionized the field of theoretical linguistics with the publication of Syntactic Structures work, based on his doctoral thesis logical structure of linguistic theory-which would not be published until 1975. -
Teacher
He has taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 1961 -
Chomsky
In the 1970s, Chomsky signed a petition to the authorities to ensure freedom of expression, stating that he did not share the view denier, but he did not recognize antisemitic in Faurisson's work. -
The Lecture Series
He occupied the Lecture Series Ferrari P. Ward Modern Language and Linguistics 1966-1976. -
Other Publication
The Principles and Parameters approach (P & P) developed in the Conferences of Pisa (1979), later published under the title Lectures on Government and Binding (LGB) was taken much of universal grammar. -
Book
Specifically in his book 11/09/2001, states that the United States is "one of the leading terrorist states" ("a leading terrorist state"). Noam Chomsky published in December 2001, three months after what happened in New York. -
Second Doctorate
In 2002 he received an honorary doctorate (language) of the National University of Colombia. -
Second Award
In 2006, Chomsky received the same award from the University of the Frontier in Chile. -
Chomsky and Chavez
Later, his book Hegemony or Survival: U.S. seeking global dominance was recommended by the President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez's speech to the UN General Assembly on September 20, 2006. -
Honorary Doctorate
On September 23, he received an honorary doctorate from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. -
