It is an Important in American history becasue it officially started the war of Independence that led to how we are today. It also inspired the soilders at the battle of Trenton when George Washington crossed the frozen river and sneak attacked the British, leading to a win of the turning point in the war. -

Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase was one of the biggest and best deals in U.S history. On that April day, Thomas Jefferson, our 3rd president, struck a deal with Napolean, the leader of the French, to purchase from them all the territory that they had in the U.S, which included Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa, Arkansas, Kansas and Missuori. He got it for $15,000,000 today and the French no longer owed us anything. Napolean needed the money to attempt to take over the Brittish, but failed. Without this purchase, -

This was the bloodiest battle in American history. More lives were lost in this battle than WW1 and WW2 combined. This affected the nation a lot because it ended slavery in the South and it killed so many people. Also, the mine' balle got invented. Because before the ime' balle go invented the only bullet you could fire was round, but now the flat bottom allows you to load gunpowder into the back, speeding up reloding time by a lot. -

This is the day that Abraham Lincohln got shot in the back of the head, and died the next day. He was one of the first presidents to get assasinated. -
Invention of the nuclear bomb
On this faithfu day in 1945, Dr. Robert Oppenhimer offically invented the nuclear bomb. That day it was already made, they just detonated it in White Sands, New Mexico. Then, Henry Truman ordered one to be used on the Jappanise, because they were the biggest threat to the allies. We sent 2 of them to bomb 2 major cities in Japan. Their names were Fat Man and Little Boy. 4 days after the bombing they surrenderd. After that the Germans lost many battles and gave up. We won the war with the bomb. -
Assasination of President Kennedy
The assasination of jfk was taken place right here in Dallas, Texas by Lee Harvey Oswald. Lee origanaly was said to be operating alone, but through further reasearch, they think he had a second gunman and a team backing him up. We'll never know because Jack Ruby assasinated Lee before he stood trial. Jack was busted though and made it to the courtroom alive. This assasination of jfk was big because it severly damaged the sense of security in Americans across the the country. -
Moon Landing
The moon landing is the biggest leap in our history since it began. That day, everyone was anxious and waiting, for they didn't know what was going to happen. Everyone was excited when Neil Armstrong said "The Eagle has landed." Although it took work, everyone thought it was worth the journey. Because as Neil Armstrong said when he put his first foot on the moon; "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" The most famous quote in the century. -

. Then, the 3rd plane crashed into the Pentigon, the HQ for national defense. Although it killed a few people, it stayed standing. Word had reached the 4th plane what had happened and that their plane was hijacked. So the passengers on that plane decided to band together and take down the hijackers. They took over the plane and crashed it into a field in Pennsylvania. Unfortunatley, no one survived. Good things did come out of this event. 9/11
9/11 was the worst attack on American Soil since Pearl Harbor in 1941. What happened was Osama bin Laden brainwashed 19 followers into hijacking planes for "glory." They were extremist, meaning that they belived in there religion so much that they did great evil so the world would celebrate their religion, just like we did way back in the 1700's, except on a much larger scale. 2 of the planes crashed into the Twin Towers, brining the glorious structures to the ground after burning for 40 minutes -
Death of Osama bin Laden
Osama was probably the worst terrorist in the history of the world, except Hitler. He recklessly murdered and made his men commit suicide. He was involved in 9/11, but did not lead it or come up with it. The leader of al qaeda was not killed easily, though. It took a decade with some of the best equiment in the world and a fully armed Navy SEAL team to take him down. But, with his death, many Americans now belive that we can put an end to terrorism in the future.
