  • French Indian War (1754-1763)

    French Indian War (1754-1763)
    The last three wars that the British, French, and their Native American allies fought was called the French and Indian War. In 1763 it ended with Britain winning, gaining Canada, Florida, and a portion of French Louisiana. I chose this even because it is a good start on American history before the colonies broke off from the British. If the British had not won and gained the territories from the peace treaty, then those places would be French territory.
  • The Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris
    The document was signed by America and the British. This provided that the United States would be free and sovereign. This was important because the treaty freed the colonists from British rule.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The British Parliament made this to force colonists to house the soldiers. The problem was that the colonists sometimes could barely help their own families without having an extra person to take care of. I chose this event because this event was the beginning of the American Revolution and the colonists wanting freedom from the British. It was important because it was the turning point of the colonists wanting freedom from the British.

    Committees of Correspondence
    The Committees of Correspondence were a series of shadow governments made by the Patriot leaders of the 13 colonies on the night before the American Revolution. This event was important because, they coordinated responses to the British. I chose this event because it is important to American History.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    American colonists were angry with the British for taxation without representation. The colonists dumped 342 chests of British Tea into the ocean. This was an important event because the colonists were getting annoyed with the British for their unfair taxes on the colonists without their consent. I chose it because this was a major turning point for the colonists and them getting closer to the Revolutionary War.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    The meeting held delegates from 12 out of the 13 colonies. They met at Carpenter's Hall for over a month in Pennsylvania after the British held a blockade at the Boston Harbor. This event is important because during these meetings they discussed the future of America. I chose this event because it was the beginning of America.
  • Revolutionary War

    The Revolutionary War was a battle between Patriots from the colonies and the British. This war lasted about 8 years. It ended with the Patriots from the colonies winning their independence from the British. I chose this event because it is a very important event to America. If the British had won then we would still be under British rule.
  • Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence was a letter to the British about what the colonies did not like about what the British imposed on them. This was an important event because the people who signed the document could have gone to jail if the colonists didn't win the war. I chose this because this was the beginning of the colonists winning against the British.
  • First Articles of Confederation

    First Articles of Confederation
    The First Articles of Confederation was the first government that the new country came up with. This did not last long for it was flawed in giving states more power over the federal government. I chose this event because this was the start of the country learning how they wanted their country to be ran. This was important because it taught the country what they wanted in their government and what they wanted to keep from happening in the government.
  • George Washington's Presidency

    George Washington's Presidency
    George Washington was elected as our first president. He ran for two terms, as he believed that two terms was enough to run for. This event was important because George Washington was our first president setting an example for the presidents in the future. I chose this event because he was the start of the line of presidents.
  • Industrial Revolution

    Industrial Revolution
    The Civil War challenged industries to make goods quicker and efficient. New tools were made to help factories make guns, ammunition, medical supplies, and uniforms quicker. I chose this because this was a time when people began improving things in America. It was important to America because it started a series of better ways to do things and making production efficient.
  • Bill of Rights

    Bill of Rights
    The Bill of Rights were started with the things the colonists did not appreciate the British doing, and didn't want those things to happen again. This was important because the people wanted to make sure that these things never happened again. I chose this event because it was added to the Constitution to keep the country from experiencing what they had experienced in the past.
  • Eli Whitney's Cotton Gin

    Eli Whitney's Cotton Gin
    The cotton gin was a machine that revolutionized the production of cotton by greatly speeding up the process of removing seeds from cotton fiber. I chose this event because this was one of the inventions that started the American Industrial Revolution. This was important because it started the Industrial Revolution.
  • Thomas Jefferson agreed to Louisiana Purchase

    Thomas Jefferson agreed to Louisiana Purchase
    Napoleon Bonaparte agreed to sell the Louisiana Territory to the United States. Jefferson bought this for only $15 million. The next year he sent Lewis and Clark to explore the territory. I chose this event because this was important to the United States. The purchase nearly doubled America's size.
  • War of 1812

    War of 1812
    The war lasted about three years. The war was over American anger with trade issues, the British saw the US Army attempt to invade Canada.This event is important because America thought this was a second war of independence. I chose this event because it brought pride and nationality to the people.
  • Mexican-American War

    Mexican-American War
    The United States wanted to gain control over the Southern Territory as the President at the time was more than willing to go to war over the territory. This event was important because the territory would be apart of Mexico and not the U.S. if we did not win.
  • Abraham Lincoln was elected

    Abraham Lincoln was elected
    President Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican to be elected into office. This was important because the Republican party had not been elected into office until Abraham was.
  • American Civil War

    American Civil War
    The war was fought over the enslavement of African American people which was fought between the North and the South. This event was important because if the battle did not happen then the enslavement of the African American people would not have been stopped. I chose this event because it was a major turning point in slavery.
  • Abraham Lincoln's Assassination

    Abraham Lincoln's Assassination
    Lincoln was the first president to be assassinated. Lincoln was killed a few nights after the Civil War ended. This event was important because it was the first time any president was killed while serving our country.
  • Invention of the Telephone

    Invention of the Telephone
    The invention has been credited to Alexander Graham Bell, but with the help of previous inventors he had help. This event was important because this later became one of the most used inventions of America. I chose this event because it was an important invention.
