The Revolutionary war was between Great Britain and the Thirteen Colonies. This took place throughout the United States. This event was important because it was the United States first war. I chose this event because it was the start of our independence from Great Britain. -

This event was important because it was the first battle in the Revolutionary War. This battle was took place in Massachusetts. I chose this event because it was the first battle of the Revolutionary War. -
Signing of the Declaration of Independence
Some important people who signed the Declaration of Independence included John Hancock, Benjamin Franklin,and John Adams. It was signed in the Pennsylvania State House. This was important because we were still under British rule at this time. I chose this event because it declared our freedom from Great Britain. -
The First Flag of America
The first flag of America was designed by Francis Hopkinson and sewn by Betsy Ross. Betty Ross created the flag in Philadelphia. This event was important because it was our first flag. I chose this event because I never knew who made the design of the flag. -
Shays Rebellion
Shays Rebellion was important because the farmers had rebelled against the government because they couldn't pay their taxes. This took place in southern Massachusetts. I chose this event because it was one of the first revolt by farmers in the states. -
George Washington becomes the first president
George Washington became the president in the Federal Hall in New York City. This event was important because he set the standard of a president, and he was our country's first official leader. I chose this event because George Washington was the United States first president. -
Washington D.C becomes the Capital
Some people who decided to move the capital to D.C were Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison. They chose to move the capital so they could please pro-slavery regions. I chose this event because our capital is still in Washington D.C. -
The Whiskey Rebellion
The Whiskey Rebellion was between the Government and rebels. This took place in Western Pennsylvania. This was important because it gave the US the its first opportunity to establish federal authority. I chose this event because I never understood where its' name came from. -
The Louisiana Purchase
The United States made a deal with France to gain 827,000 square miles of land west of the Mississippi River for $15 million. This was important because it doubled the overall size of the US. I chose this event because we doubled size for a very cheap amount. -
The Burning of the White House
The White House was burnt down by Robert Ross, who was apart of the British army. This event was important because the British had burnt down one of the most important places in the US. I chose this event because this was the first time the White House got burnt down. -
Presidents Thomas Jefferson and John Adams pass away
Thomas Jefferson and John Adams died on the same day. This was important because their deaths happened to be on the fiftieth anniversary of the approval of the Declaration of independence. Thomas Jefferson died in Virginia, while John Adams died in Massachusetts. I chose this event because I thought it was very ironic that two presidents died on the same day as the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. -
The Trail of Tears
The Trail of Tears were located in states west to the Mississippi River. Andrew Jackson was the president during this time, and 4,000 Cherokee Indians died. I chose this event because many Indians died for unjust reasons. -
The Black Hawk War
The battle included the United States and Native Americans led by Black Hawk. This war took place in Illinois and Michigan. This event was important because marked the end of Native armed resistance to U.S. expansion in the Northwest. I chose this event because I had never heard of this war before. -
The Battle of Alamo
The battle of Alamo took place in San Antonio, Texas. The battle was between Mexico and the Republic of Texas. This battle was important because if we had lost Texas would have been apart of Mexico. I chose this event because it was the biggest battle fought in Mexico. -
The Creation of the Telegraph
The telegraph was made by Morse and Vail. They sent their message from Washington D.C to Baltimore. This event was important because it made communication much faster. I chose this event because it influenced modern day telephones. -
The End of the Whig Party
The Whig Party was founded by Henry Clay. The Whig Party ended because of internal tension over the expansion of slavery to the territories. This event was important because it was the opposing part of the Democratic Party. I chose this event because I had never heard of the Whig Party. -
The Civil War
The civil war was between the southern states and northern states. This event was important because our country could have split into two if the north had lost. I chose this event because this was our only civil war. -
The Battle of Antietam
The battle of Antietam took place in Sharpsburg. This battle was important because it was the eighth most costly battle of the Civil War. I chose this event because there was no official winner. -
The Battle of Gettysburg
The battle took place in Gettysburg,and was won by the Union.This battle was important because it was most costly land battle of the Civil War. I chose this battle because there was a ton of causalities in this battle -
The Assasination of Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth a Ford's theater. This was extremely important because Abraham Lincoln was the first president to be assassinated. I chose this event because Abraham Lincoln is one of the most well known presidents.
