When the french sold America most of what is kown as the United Sates today. The land was sold for 15,000,000 dollars! Even though the people that were in charge of negotiating with the french had a strict limit of 10 million dollars, they went over the limit, because they were getting more than thery bargained for. This is important because the area that we had purchased had a lot of good values, such as gold, and of course, land for people to live on. -
Lewis and Clark Expedition
When Louis and Clark met and agreed to discover the new land in America. They headed west and found out the habitat in the area, as well as landmarks.

Oregon Trail
This was a 2000 mile long trail in America, traveld by people who were itching to settle in the far west, where they heard that they could get cheap, or even free land. Many people died on the trail, and a lot turned back.
This is important because this is a trail that brought thousands of people together, that made them travel for months for something they disired. -
Indian Removal Act
When the government wanted the land that indians had settled on, the government used the "Indian Removal Act" to get them ff of the land. This upset the chief indian, and the man reponsible for the selling of the land for 5 million dollars was executed.
This is important because this was one of the main big conflicts between the white man, and the native american, -

This is important because Texas had finally declared their independance! -
Trail of Tears
When the indian americans were forced to mve further, and further west due to americas greedyness, they hiked for hundreds of miles on a journey named the trail of tears. Maqny, many indians died, including 4 of the 15 thousand Cherokee! This is important because this is one of the most terrible things Amerca could've done for the indians. Again, America's greedyness gets us nowhere! -
Texas Annexed by USA
When America accepted texas as a union state ( the 28th), and started disputing over the borders with Mexico. This led to the Mexican American war. This is impirtant because we never would have had Texas if it weren't for this! -
Treaty of Guadilupe Hidalgo
This treaty staed clearly the boundries of Mexico's borders as well as Texas's borders. Our government tried to negotiate with the Mexican governnmet, but we soon learned that they would not give in. This is important because this is what judged Texas's borders that we know today. -
Seneca Falls Convention
When a couple of women attempted to enter an anti-slavery meeting in Europe, they were blocked, because they were women. They immediately went back to america to fight this, and thus, the Seneca Falls Convention was born. This is important because ths is the earliest sign of women fighting for their rights as humans beings. -
Minnesota Sioux Uprising
It started as a large dissagreement, then turned to a bloody masaccre. In the end, 38 indians were executed. 39 were originally on the list, but one didn't make it.
This is important because this shows how problems in amerca can escalte so quickly, and end up in a mess. -
Invention of Barbed Wire
Before barbed wirte, cowboys had to round up cattle, and keep them within the limits of the ranch. After barbed wire, the cowboys were nolonger needed. The man who invented the wire was Lucien B. of Ohio. This is important because this was revolutionary for farmers, because barbed wie helped out so much. -
Transcontinental Railroad
When america needed a better way of transportation, they poured money, and money paid in federal land, into building a railroad across america. When the railroad was finished, a telograph was sent to the president consistiong of one word, "Done.".
This is important because this was a giant leap for america, it made a trip across america, that would normally take 6 months, take only 6 weeks! -
Battle of Little Bighorn
When a massacre occured at Little Bihorn in Montana.General Custer failed to follow orders, and sent his men after thousands of indinas, when he only had a few hundred. He and his whole calvary, the 7th calvary, was killed. This important because it was a major win for the native Americans! -
Ghost Dance
When an indian had a vision while in the steam room, he told everone that if they did the "ghost dance", that their ancestors would return.
This is important because this is that dance that the indians did when the y were attacked by the 7th calvary. It was unfourchuneatley missunderstood to the US troops, and taken as an act of aggression. -
Wounded Knee Massacre
When the 7th calvarly of the USA military attempts to dissarm a tribe of native americans, ne deaf native american doesn't cooperate. The american troops end up shooting the whle tribe of indians, as well as shoting some of their own men in the crossfire, This is important because this is an event that makes america look like crap. We never needed to dissarm them, but we had a grudge against the indians, so we went ahead and caused a problem.
