Hurricane Katrina
I was in my second grade class when i witnessed ewhat Hurricane Katrina had done. We watched it all over the news, seeing the damage this storm had caused, and the suffering of the people in New Orleans as basically the entire city was wiped out pictue- NASA and Goddard Photo and video's photostream -
Hawaii Trip
My faimly and I went to my Aunts wedding, along with most of my dads side of the family. Thiswas a great time with family, and personally affected me because it was one of the last times I could spend quality time with my grandpa before he lost his battle with pancreatic cancer -
Pearl Harbor
On my family trip for my aunts wedding to Hawaii, I visited pearl Harbor. This was a very heart-warming experience because I witnessed family member of those who died their crying at the nams of their deceased relatives on the wall, and it was just a great experience for me to honor thosewho fought for our country picture-Chad Rosenthal. -
Grandpas Death
This was a tough time in my life becasue my Grandpa was a huge role model in my life, and was always there for me, and we shared so many great memories togethr so it was hard to tell myself that he was gone, but I know whenecer I need help he will always be ther no matter what. I am glad it was a planned death due to his cancer and was not sudden, so we were able to have all the family home, even family from Guam. This made me a stronger person then I was. -
Cedar Rapids Flood of 08
The flood in 08 in Iowa was a horrible occourance. The cedar river overflowed and destroyed a big part of Cedar Rapids. I was able to help the victims that needed help at shelters, which really showed me how much people cared. piccture- Matt Herzberger -
My 1st Homerun
This was my first homerun over the fence I had hit. It came against the Cedar Raoids Reds major baseball team. AS I remember it had started to rain, then stop as I approached the plate the at-bat I hit my homerun. It is a moment I will never forget becasue it showed me I can do anything I set my mind to. -
Aunts Death
My aunt sadly passed away a few days brfore Christmas, which was a major setback for our family. She was such a woderful person, and was a great aunt to me, always looking out for my best interests, so Thats why this death especially affected me. -
Tiger Woods Scandal
Tiger Woods was caught having many affairs with other women without his wife Elin having any idea. This hurt me personally because I looked up to him not only as a golfer but as a Role model, and this hurt knowing what terrible choices he decided making. picture-Keith Allison -

I was very shocked to hear that Iowa wide receiver Derrel Johnson-Koulianos was arrested with living in a known drug house. Killing of Osama Bin Laden
U.S Forces killed Osama Bin aden in a firefight in Pakistan. Osama was known as the leader of the 9-11 attack on the u.s. This was a huge victory for the United States knowing the mastermind behind attacks is gone.
