Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, and John Adams all took part in the signing on the Declaration. It was important because it confirmed what America should be like, and how it should be governed. I chose this event because it really shaped our government into what it is today. -
The Writing of the Constitution
The writing of the Constitution occurred in 1787. The Constitution was written in Philadelphia. James Madison wrote the Constitution. The Constitution is important because it protects the individual rights we have as citizens of the United States. I chose this event because it really institutes the idea of our government and also why we have the rights that we do. -
Whiskey Rebellion
The Whiskey Rebellion occurred in 1794. It happened in western Pennsylvania. George Washington directed this rebellion. It is important because the citizens didn't want to pay a tax on liquor that was imposed by Alexander Hamilton. I chose this event because it is a prime example of how citizens still have some say on what happens in the United States. -
Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase occurred in 1803. The Louisiana Territory was the main area dealing with the Louisiana Purchase. Thomas Jefferson and Napoleon were the main people involved in the Louisiana Purchase. It was important because it is the reason we have the Louisiana Territory currently. I chose this event because it showcases how different countries work things out to benefit each other. -
Battle of New Orleans
The Battle of New Orleans occurred in 1815. It happened in New Orleans, Louisiana. Andrew Jackson lead an army to defeat British troops in New Orleans. It was important because New Orleans is now part of the United States. I chose this event because it shows us that sometimes it takes power and determination from a power source to achieve a goal. -
Monroe Doctrine
The idea of the Monroe Doctrine was established in 1823. It was established by James Monroe. It was important because it was a set of principles that required any Americans from basically associating with Europeans. I chose this event because it was important how we associated with Europe, and America and Europe might not be as close as they are currently. -
Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
This treaty was signed in 1848. It was signed at Villa de Guadalupe Hidalgo. The U.S and Mexico were main power sources in the Mexican War. It is important because it drew the line of separation between Mexico and the United States. I chose this event because we most likely wouldn't have as much power as we do if it wasn't for the treaty. -
Dred Scott Decision
The Dred Scott case occurred in 1857. It happened in Missouri. The main people in this event were Dred Scott and John Sandford. It is important because it was really the first time a slave had a positive experience in the court. I chose this event because it shows us that many laws declared in the Constitution didn't follow through. -
Battle of Gettysburg
The Battle of Gettysburg happened in 1863. It occurred in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Robert E. Lee led an army into Gettysburg, and lost. It was important because it was one of the wars that brought us closer as a nation. I chose this event because it gives us an example of why battles shouldn't be rushed. -

The Battle of Little Bighorn occurred in 1876. The battle happened in western United States. George Custer administered the Battle of Little Bighorn. It is important because it marked the beginning of the end of Native American sovereignty. I chose this event because it was important to Native Americans. -

The Haymarket Riot occurred in 1886. It happened in Chicago. Nobody major was involved. It was important because there were many casualties. I chose this because it was an important day for workers. -
Plessy versus Ferguson
The case happened in 1896. It happened in the South. Plessy and Ferguson. It was important because it provided a controlling judicial precedent. I chose this event because many slaves were not given many opportunities in court. -
Breakup of Northern Securities
The Northern Securities broke up in 1902-1904. It occurred in the north of the United States. Theodore Roosevelt was a leading cause of the breakup. It is important because railroads were very important to the north at this point. -
Sinking of the Lusitania
The Sinking of the Lusitania happened in 1915. It occurred in Britain. Woodrow Wilson was a major person involved in the event. It is important because it supplied guns, raw materials, and food for allies. I chose this event because it is the reason the United Stated joined the allies in the war. -

The Stock Market crashed in 1929. Calvin Coolige was the president at the time of the crash. It happened in all of the United States. It is important because it shaped America into the superpower that it currently is. I chose this event because I still hear about it today. -
Atomic Bombing
The atomic bombs dropped in 1945. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed after America dropped its first atomic bombs on them. Harry S. Truman was the decision in this event. It is important because it ended the war quicker. I chose this event because Japan is still quite mad about it. -
U.S Army Hearings
The U.S Army Hearing occurred in 1954. Joseph McCarthy was the Senator at the time of the hearing. It happened in the United States. It is important because the army is very important in America. I chose this event because it made the army stronger. -
Assassination of MLKJ
The assassination of MLKJ occurred in 1968. It involved civil rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr. and happened in the United States. It is important because MLK was an amazing civil rights leader. I chose this event because it shaped segregation into what it is now. -
Watergate Scandal
The Watergate Scandal occurred in 1972-74. It happened in Washington D.C while Richard Nixon was president. It is important because it is why we don't have much faith in government officials. I chose this event because we have began trusting officials more. -
September 11 Attacks
The 9/11 attacks happened in 2001. It included Alkida, as the terrorists. It happened in New York. It is important because it killed a lot of people. I chose this event because it brought America closer together.
