Eli Whitney's Cotton Gin
On this date, Eli Whiteney made his first Cotton Gin patent. This is what started it all. Eventually more slaves would be needed to pick more cotton. Then the slaves would run it though the Cotton Gin. After that the cotton ran though the cotton gin it was sent up to the textile mills up north to get made into different types of clothes and cloths. -
LouisianaPurchase
The Louisiana Purchase was when america bought 529,920,000 acreas of land. We bought it for around 4 cents an acre which owuld now be about less than 42 cents. This let us eventually move west for more land to live in. -

This is where one of the battles happened during the civil war. It is really close to Charleston. This battle happened on April 12, 1861 – April 13, 1861. The people involved were the Union and the Confederacy. It is important because every battle has an affect on the war itself, so this did have an affect on the war. -

This is in Washington DC. This is the theater that President Lincoln got shot in by John Wilkes Booth. This happened on This is a theater that people could go to to watch plays. The people who were involved were Lincoln and John Wilkes Booth. This is important because Lincoln planned on becoming reunited with the south but when he got shot it changed the course of history. -

Ellis Island is the place where European immigrants come to get checked and tested to see if they are eligible to become a U.S. citizen. The location is the upper New York Bay. It was built in 1900 and is now a museum. -

Angel Island was an immigration station for Asian immigrants come to the U.S. to become a U.S. citizen. It was a station from 1910 to 1940. It is now a state park. -
