On September 11, 2001 the attack of two planes overtaken by suicide terrorists flew into the World Trade Center crashing both of the towers down to ground level. Later throughout the day, there was another plane crash at the pentagon. Although I was young this impacted me significantly because it made me realize that anyone is capable of doing something bad on greater scale. -
No Child Left Behind Act
No Child Left Behind is divided up in ten sections but one of the most significant sections is Title 1. Title 1 is a support system that helps children who are at an educational disadvantage. This impacted me because I went through this program due to my learning disability and successfully got out of the program. -

Invasion of Iraq
The invasion of Iraq was in response to the stop of Saddam Hussein and his stockpile of destructive weapons being sold to Al-Qaeda. Although the after-effects of terrorism still exist there today it was still too much for the US soldiers to handle. This impacted me because this taught me the significance of 9/11 from an emotional standpoint and that people would do anything for it not to happen again. -

My Sister was Born
My first and only other sibling I have was born when I was 3 years old. We are three years apart and her name is Mikayla Eveslage. This impacted my life because she was there always following me. I learned that my decisions could impact the way she lived her life. -
George W. Bush was Re-elected
The 43rd President George W. Bush was re-elected for a second term as the President of the United States. This came to effect because during his presidency he helped shaped the freedom of Christians in the US. This was significant to me because Bush’s presidency made me realize that his policies helped reshape the nation in his own way. -

This case goes up against the cruel and unusual punishment of juveniles. This event taught me of how prison systems deal with prison inmates regarding the death penalty and furthermore it revealed the number of cases that failed. This impacted me because of how meaningful the Bill of Rights is and protects us against cruel and unusual punishment in the US. -

Hurricane Katrina was a natural disaster that hit New Orleans and other parts of Louisiana. Many families have torn apart when losing family members and homes due to Hurricane Katrina. This made an impact to me because it made me think that anything could happen. -

Going to school for the first time
My first time going to school was very nerve-wracking because it was the first time going to a public school. After I got through the day, I was starting to warm-up and could not wait to return after my first day was over. This was a big step for me in my academic career and made me realize what school really was. -
Meeting my closest friends
In my early years of being in school, I met my closest friends. These friends have been an important part of my life for a very long time as we have been friends ever since.These friends have influenced my life on a great scale. -
Getting my first pet
When I was very young, I got my very first pet, which was a guinea pig. I had a close bond with my guinea pig and I adored it. After having it for a couple years, it passed away. I cried because I adored it so much that I have remembered him ever since. -
My Great-Grandfather died
My great-grandfather died. He was one of the most important family members in my life. Although I was young when he died he was very influential for my grandfather, my uncles, and my father. Their stories of him reminded me of our good memories that I vividly remember. -

The Great Recession
This was a time of an economic depression in the US. The GDP of the nation was impacted. Unemployment started to increase as did the prices for food and gas. This had an impact when I remembered how high the gas and food prices were. This was a time of financial strain for our family. I later learned why that occurred on a national scale. -
President Barack Obama was Elected for US President
President Obama became the 44th President of the US and made a significant impact on U.S and to me. He overcame the many racial barriers and become the first African-American president of the US. His presidency showed me and others that you can overcome many challenges and reach great accomplishments. He inspired me and many people to pursue greatness in life. -

Citizens vs FEC
This issue is about how the first amendment was used in an unlawful way in the election. For example, Citizens United, which is a nonprofit group, was shooting a 90-minute film about Hillary Clinton and it did not air due to the Federal Election Committee (FEC) taking part in it. This is impactful to me because it made me realize the political biases in the US and what the first amendment meant in this situation. -
Affordable Health Care Act
This act is about how the legislative branch created more affordable healthcare for low-income families. This was impactful to the families that lived in poverty across the nation. This opportunity gave families time to gather money for other necessities. This applied to my grandparents who are running on a low income and cannot work due to their health conditions. -

Westboro Baptist Church Controversy
Westboro Baptist Church protest was about a baptist church in Kansas organizing a hateful funeral protest against military soldiers who died. Their actions alerted the public and caused an uproar against them because of the message the members presented. This impacted me significantly because the Supreme Court made me realize that they still have their first amendment right of protected freedom of speech, even if that speech is unkind to others. -

My great-grandmother died. She was also one of the most important family members for my family and me. I have more memories of the times that I had with my great-grandmother than my great-grandfather. Her death saddened me and my family greatly because of how much of a positive influence she was on me and my family. -

The Marcus Robinson case was a case that could determine Marcus’s life with the death sentence. This was due to be a death row convict. Furthermore, his sentence was turned down because a large portion of the case was due to the racial biases of the jury. This impacted me because sometimes people’s beliefs are taken so far that they could reveal the person’s personality and bias. -

First time to Boy Scout Camp
When I went to Boy Scout Camp at Resica Falls to experience camp, I thought it would be fun. After going I was expected to do a lot of things on my own which taught me a lot of things. Camp allowed me to experience the outdoors to the point that I loved it and wanted to do it again. This experience taught me a lot of new things and made me more mature in how I handle things. -
Boston Marathon bombing
The Boston Marathon bombing was done by two people named Dzhokhar Anzorovich and Tamerlan Anzorovich who were motivated by Jihad to create homemade explosives that they planned to use during the Boston Marathon. There were over 200 casualties and two deaths in total during the bombing. This was significant to me because it showed the potential power and damage that terrorist groups can have and perform. This impacted me greatly. -

First time traveling to Europe
This was the first time for me to experience what it was like to a travel to a foreign country. When I went to Europe, I visited England, France, and Belgium. This allowed me to experience various cultures that were different from the US. -
Same Sex Marriage Rights
Same Sex Marriage is when people who want to marry someone of the same gender. This right which was issued by the Supreme Court has raised the social viewpoints of others which critically impacts their emotional feelings towards this topic. This impacts me because this decision shaped the way I thought about others and how the government took a big step to respect the rights of all people. -
