    Jefferson studied under several tutors and he enrolled himself in the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. In 1769 he was elected to the House of Burgesses. Jefferson was elected to the committee in charge of writing the Declaration of Independance. On June 1, 1779 he was elected governor of Virginia and then he later became president in 1801 to 1809.     He is the leader of the Haitian independence movement during the French Revolution. He requested for Saint-Domingue to be governed by black slaves for a short period of time. He led his country to independence.

    After the capture of Fort Ticonderoga he lead his army of 12,000 men to Horatio Gates at the First Battle of Saratoga. Burgoyne was forced to camp because he failed to find a route through American lines to Albany. He failed the second attempt unsuccessful. He was outnumbered and he was forced to surrender.     George Washington lead a group of 17,000 French and Continental troops. This was the most important battle of the Revolutionary War. By September 28, Washington had completely encircled Cornwallis and Yorktown with his troops. There was also a section where it said that all persons are innocent until proven guilty.
