William was born on September 19 1911 in his grandparent's house, Cornwall, which he cherished very much in the UK. -
Childhood
William was raised in a 14th-century house next to a graveyard in England. His mother, Mildred was a woman activist fighting for women's rights while his father was a schoolmaster. William admitted that he bullied multiple kids when he was young out of frustration. -
Career
William Golding started teaching English and philosophy in 1935, and stopped in 1940 to join the royal navy. He spent two years teaching at Steiner school in Streatham, south of London, and then returned to Oxford for another 3 years before being drafted in war. -
Marriage
On September 30 1939, William got married to Ann Brookfield. He was going to marry Molly Evans, but broke his engagement beforehand. -

His first novel
On September 17, 1954 William wrote his first novel, and his most popular. It sold over 25 million copies in English. In 1983 , he won an award for the series. -

William Golding wrote a total of twelve novels, plays, essays, reviews, poems, and a travel book about Eqypt. Many of his other attempts still survive in manuscripts or transcripts. -
Death
Golding moved to a house with his wife called Tallimaar 8 years before his death. In 1993, on June 19th, he died of heart failure.
