Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchse was about how the American people had to move to west. This was important because the people wanted to take control over the Mississippi River from France. Napoleon was didnt want to sell the land to anybody, but as the France money began to get low he had no choice but to. Jefferson wanted New Orleans but instead he walked away with the whole Louisiana territory. It all cost 15 million dollars. -
Lewis and Clarkand the Pacific Ocean
This was a journey when Lewis and Clark went to map the some areas of the Louisiana Purchase. Then they find them selves at the Pacific Ocean. This is important because they needed to map and find out what else was out by the Louisiana Purchase to and so they know where they were. -
Indian Removal Act
The Indian Removal Act was about how it was passed by Congress and how Andrew Jackson made that happen. It is important because It was of how the Native Americans had to go from their own culture to how white people dressed, what they ate, and what clothes they wore. The Native Americans didnt like what Jackson had to say but he said their ability would be taken away. So in 1830 Jakson told them to move to the west of Mississippi. -
Trail of Tears
The Trial of Tears was when the Native Americans had to move from sacred land, how they had to walk a long way, and how they had to go from a lot of trees to a land where they haven’t been before. It was a result of the Indian Removal Act. This is important because a lot of Native American people died and how the European people made them move and not caring for them. -
Battle of the Alamo
During the war of independence of Texas from Mexic, a couple of soldiers were garding the Alamo. Then later the leader of the Mexican force went there and started fighting. This is important because they built up this building so no one from somewhere else would invade them, them the Mexicans came. Then after the war was done, people recognized it as the symbol of their heroic resistance and their fight for independance. -
Clifornia Gold Rush
This was about how there was gold found by James Marshall. This is important because many people wanted gold and so they went to get gold. Most of the male poputlation droped everything and went to go find gold. The only ones who got a lot of miney was the peeple who worked were the buisness owners that sold the tools for the miners. -
Oregon Trail
This was when people started moving west with wagon trains on the oregon train. This was mapped by Lewis and Clark with their search for the Northwest passage. This was important because they had to travel a long way and many people died. -
Manifest Destiny
Manifest Destiny was an angle that people thought helped them and thought that she made their lives better. The people thought that she gave them luck. -
The Mexican American War
This was the first armed conflict in the US. This was a war because they wanted rights to Texas. Then after the war was over the US paid 15 million dollars for California, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and several other states. -
Oregon Treaty
This was when England signs a trearty for handing the Oregon Treaty to the U.S. This was important because -
"Forty-niners"
This was about how John Marshall found out there was gold in California, then newspapers started coming out saying that there was gold there and everyone started to move there to find gold. This was important because California grew bigger then it did when everyone started going there to look for gold. The US paid more money then the Louisiana Purchase. -
The Pony Express
This was about how a amil messenge traveled to deliver mail from a long ways away. This was imporant because the person had to go a long ways to deliver mail and with the danger of what the person had to go through. -
Pacific Railroad Act
This Act was how the US agreed to help make a railroad from California to Missouri. It was important becaus the people ahd to build a rail road all the way from California to Missouri and that took a long time to built and they had to have a lot of moey to build one. -
Battle of the Alamo
A group of Mexican people had an attack the Alamo Mission. The Mexican people out numberd the Alamo Mission by a lot. Then the Alamo had little number of people so they didnt win. -
Homestead Act
This was when the the government gives free land to the farmers and they agreed to live on it for five years and make the land better. Many people wanted to get the land to live on. this was important because the people had to make the land better and the government gave up this huge land for the farmers for free. -
Yellowstone National Park
This was the first park in the US. It was established by congress to show the wild life and creaturs to the people. -
Black Hills Gold
This is when gold was descoverd. The land was under the Native Americans.This was a group of Sioux. Then the Europeans were interested in the gold, so they started gold mining. -
Barbed wire invented
This was when the wire was envented. It help people keep cattle in their range so they wont run free. The people liked it because they could the wire to make a fence. -
Battle of Little Bighorn
This was an armed engagement with Northern Cheyenne and Arapaho tribe. It was important because some people got killed and the Cheyenne were going to force the Native Americans to go back to their resorvations. In the end the Native Americans won.
