    The Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was one of the major events leading up to the American Revolution. The Sons of Liberty joined together and dumped 45 tons of tea into the Boston Harbor. This was because the Tea Act was passed. The Tea Act said that Americans had to buy tea from the British East India Company.

    The American Revolution

The American Revolution started on April 19th,1775. The night before, Paul Revere went on a horse to warn everybody to get ready because the British were coming. The first shot in the Revolution was called "The Shot Heard Round The World". Nobody knew who fired the first shot, but it was the first shot that would declare America's independence.

    War of 1812

The War of 1812 is significant to our history because the National Anthem, The Star Spangeled Banner, was written when Francis Scott Key was held prisoner. This war was basically our second war for independence. The peace treaty was signed on December 24th, 1814, but the information traveled slowly, so people kept fighting until 1815.
  • Period: to

    The American Civil War

This war was also a major turning point in our nation's history. Slavery was a huge thing in America. The North and the South disagreed over slavery because of many reasons. The North had factories and big cities, so they didn't need slaves. The South had many plantations and large farms that they needed slaves to harvest all the crops and pick the cotton. They had a war over slavery. If the North were to have lost the Civil War, we still might have had slavery to this point in time.
  • Women Given the Right to Vote

Women Given the Right to Vote
Women were given the right to vote. I think this was very important because before then, only men could vote. The law written in 1878 said that everyone had equal rights. They had been discriminating women from men the whole time.
