Innovative Schools Collaborative Design Camp
The Third Teacher FlashcardsA group of teachers, students, parents, community members, support staff, facilities staff and administrators will meet for a weeklong design camp in Kahakuloa to design new innovative spaces for the high school. The essential question that will drive this design project will be: how does the physical space need to be transformed to reflect 21st century learning that prepares students to be global entrepeuneurs in the future? The team will design three future learning spaces. -
Ribbon Cutting: STEaM Learning Space
ExplOratoriumHigh Tech High Project Based LearningAn integrated learning lab embodying the fine arts department and the industrial engineering and technology department is unveiled to the high school community. This open learning space will be shared and accessible to all students and community members interested in STEaM project based learning. -
PAPERLESS
HIgh school goes completely paperless. The school uses the savings from purchasing paper to buy more tech equipment and software. -
The Makery Maui
The Makery Hilo
The Makery Maui opens at the high school in partnership with the Makery Hilo on the Big Island: a community/school based manufactoring space. Student and community run. The Makery has several laser machines using CAD software. Students with mulitiple learning disabilities that are interested are trained to use the laser machines earning a salary while they apprentice. -
Leadership Collaborative
What is Holocracy?Student, teacher, community members and school administrators meet to discuss initiatives, student achievement, access and equity. This group of leaders will be the new collaborative governence structure of the school, where everyone in the organization takes responsibility for the children we serve. -
Graduation
The first cohort of students with personalized learning plans graduate from the high school. All students have post secondary plans and the graduation rate is more than 95%.
