Baby Boom
After WWII was over and soldiers were back home lots of them decide to have a family and soon many many kids were born and in 1946 the birth rate in america was 20% more than it was in 1945 which is the reason why this time and era was named Baby Boom. -

Cold War
The Cold war was called the cold war for the reason being the U.S nor did Russia really ever attacked each other but both sides had nuclear weapons aimed at each other and was actually one of the reasons why they never fought afraid that one of them would send missiles. This was important because nukes were being pointed at each other. -
Berlin blockade/airlift
What happen was Soviet Union blocked all allied trucks from supplying western Berlin which was where the allies were and so what the allies did was instead of bringing them supplies through trucks and other ground vehicles they brought them supplies through airplanes so that way they could still bring them supplies without the Soviet Union stopping them. This was a big thing because the Soviet Union was trying to get the allies out and trying to make all of Berlin theirs. -
Warsaw Pact
This was a treaty that was signed by both Poland and the Soviet Union and this treaty was the treaty of friendship, cooperation, and mutual assistance but was soon ended in 1991 due to the reason of the Soviet Union coming to an end and no longer a thing. This big because it was making Friends with the soviet union which were communist and some people didn't like the communist. -
Rosa Parks
On this date Rosa Parks was on her way to her destination on a bus and soon no more seats were left and refused to give hers up for a white man that said to her to move. This was big because it was one of the first time where a African american actually stood up for themselves which was a big moment in that time and helped them get their own rights. -

Vietnam War
During this time the U.S fought in a war that was fought in Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam for around 17 years which to this day is still the longest war the U.S has ever fought in and some people involve were the Viet Cong, South Vietnam, U.S, China, and lastly the U.S.S.R. This was important because half way through the war most of the country didn't wanna be in the war anymore and the U.S wan't doing very good in the war. -
Elvis Presley
During this time in 1956 Elvis Presley made his first song/album that soon became very popular and soon lots and lots of kids were starting to love his music but not so much of the adults still liking their jazz that was very popular before Elvis. This was a big part because it was new music that all the younger people were liking this music and the older people or the adults weren't liking the music (which is kinda like rap music today). -

From these dates the Berlin wall was put in place by the soviets to split it up with the allies which included the U.S, the British, and the French but was soon torn down after Germany became independent once again and the cold war was over. This is important because it blocked parts of Berlin off to separate it from the allies. -

During this time both U.S and Russia or at the time soviet union had missiles aimed at each other but and were threatening each other but no missiles were actually launched and was called the Cuban missile crisis because even though it was mostly the soviet union they had nukes or missiles that were placed over in Cuba. This was important because It was the first time where nukes were pointed at each other in a war. -
Martin Luther King Jr Speech
Martin Luther King Jr gave his i ¨I have a dream¨ speech in 1963 August 28 talking about how he had a dream where everyone is equal and Just because of skin color they are not treated differently nor are they segregated and how African Americans should be equal and treated the same and was a civil rights activist. This was big because he was trying to get everyone equal and not treated different which soon then changed and everyone was equal. -
Robert F Kennedy assasination
Robert Kennedy was shot at a hotel by a guy named Sirhan Sirhan
and soon died not soon after. This is important because this is the second time a Kennedy has gotten shot. -
Watergate Scandal
What this was is apparently people from the republican party were caught at the headquarters of the democratic party committee and so they say they were spying on them and their plans and was suspicious because the next presidential election Nixon swept the democratic party and soon resigned because he knew he was gonna be impeached. This was gonna be big because he would have been only the third president to ever be impeached but after he was gonna be impeached he became the first to resign. -

In the year of 1980 Ronald Reagan ran for president as a republican and was against Jimmy Carter, John Anderson, and Ed Clark, and won with a crazy 489 electoral vote. -
Challenger explosion
The challenger was a space ship that came apart in about 1 min and soon blew up killing all 7 crew members and one special person that was aboard the ship was a teacher named Sharon Christa McAliffe. This was important because a teacher was abourd. -
Persian gulf war
This war was fought because of Iraq deciding to invade Kuwait who did nothing and made other countries mad and caused them to step into the fight and Kuwait was back to normal in 1991 when the U.S defeated Iraq. This was important because it could have made Iraq think twice about invading Kuwait because the U.S might step in. -

Bill Clinton began his presidency in 1991 and ended in 2001 meaning he finished two terms and was the 42nd president with his vice president Al Gore and before he was president he was the governor of Arkansas. -
September 11 2001
This was a attack on the twin towers by the terrorist group named AL-Qaeda and they did this by getting access to planes and later flying them into the sides of the buildings which then caused both of the towers to fall and not only were the towers hit but so was the pentagon. This was important because this was the reason why America went to war and sent troops over to Afghanistan -

Hurricane Katrina vs Hurrican Harvey
both had about 125 billion dollars in repairs but Harvey only had 82 deaths where as Katrina had over 1,800 deaths and both being about just as bad except for Harvey being a category 4 and Katrina being a category 5. This is important because these two ended up to be some of the biggest storms in American history. -
Donald Trump
In 2016 Donald trump won the presidential election against Hilary Clinton which then made him president and soon went into office a year later in 2017 Donald trump is the 45th president and was also born in 1946 making him 71 years old. This is important because it was close and split the country because of the people they wanted to vote for.
