The American Revolution
I feel this is the first most important event that shaped American History. The American Revolution was when we were fighting against Great Britian for our independence. I chose this event because it made American History possible. It was the start of our nation. It led to how we came to be The United States of America. -
Louisiana Purchase
I chose this as the fifth most important event that shaped American History. The Lousianna Purchase was when the U.S bought a large mass of land from France. The Lousianna purchase nearly doubled the size of America. I chose this event because it would lead to the Louis and Clark expedition and increase our range of settlement so we could have a larger population. -
Womens Sufferage Movement
I chose this as the tenth most important event that shaped American History. The Womens Sufferage Movement was a very long movement where women fought for their equal rights. I chose this event because I am a girl and it is very important to our nations history. The fact that women can vote has changed the outcome of all our elections in the past. This country would be alot different if it were still a mans world. -
Abraham Lincoln's Presidency
I chose this as the nineth most important event that shaped American History. On November 6th 1860 Abraham Lincoln was sworn in as our 16th president. I chose this event because President Lincoln made alot of Historical moves during his presidency. He was president during the Civil War and he passed the Emancipation Proclomation. -
Civil War
I chose this as the sixth most important event that shaped American History. The Civil War was a war between the Union(North) and Confederate States(South). The war was fought over states rights. I chose this event because it resulted in having no more slave states and it changed America forever by some people still causing tension between the North and the South. -
Great Depression
I chose this as the seventh most important event that shaped American History. The Great Depression was a very low time in American History that started when the stock market crashed. There were very few jobs in America and many went into poverty. I chose this event because America has learned from it and now we take certain precautions so that it never happens again. -
Civil Rights Movement
I chose this as the third most important event that shaped American History. The Civil Rights Movement was a movement where colored people protested and fought for their equal rights as Americans. I chose this event because it shaped American History from being a nation that was segregated and un-united to a nation where everyone had equal rights. It allowed all colored people to have a say in this country. -
JFK Assasination
I chose this as the fourth most important event that shaped American History. On the 22nd day of November in 1963 President John F. Kennedy was assasinated. He was shot by a sniper while he was riding in the presidential motorcade. I chose this event because it caused all of the future presidents to use safer protection. Since Kennedy was assasinated there hasn't been any more presidents killed. -
Apollo 11
I chose this as the eighth most important event that shaped American History. Apollo 11 was the space shuttle that landed the first humans on the Moon in 1969. Americans won the race to the moon. I chose this event because it showed how intelligent and talented we Americans are. It was a great technologically advanced leap in American History and in World History. -
9/11
I chose this as the second most important event that shaped American History. 9/11 was the date in 2001 when a group of islamic terrorist took down the world trade center. It changed America drastically and left us all devistated. We realised we weren't as safe as we thought. 9/11 made us as Americans realise we needed stricter security because anything could happen.
