Middle Colonies
The middle colonies consisted of New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. They focused on cereal crops, were religiously, demographically, and ethnically diverse, and had the best relationship with the native. The significance to this was that since they had the best relationship with the natives because they would trade and that led to both of them having better communication skills and it bettered their societies and economy. -

Mercantalism was a system to better the economy and make money for the mother country. Also known for little import and a lot of export, to get more money. Mercantilism was significant because it made trade easier. -
Pueblo Revolt
The Pueblo Revolt was when the Spanish came in and tried converting all the natives and everyone to Christianity. As a result of this, the people revolted against the spanish and ended up killing hundreds of them. This is significant because the people in, now the US, stood up for themselves many years later when they came back and they lived in peace. -
Salem Witch Trials
The Salem Witch Trials were when people were accused of witchcraft.20 people were executed because of these trials. The significance was that it led to the government confessing to the people and appologizing since they never really had enough information about the people to put them on trial. -

The Molasses Act was the process of stopping trade between north america and the west indies.They slowed down the trade of molasses by taxing it. It was significant because the british government tried putting an end to trade between france and the US so they could trade with the US to get more money and improve theirselves. -

The French and Indian war when britan and france fought for control over east north america. This was significant because the french eventually gave up all their american land to the british. It also changed relatione between britian and its "colonies" majorly. -

The Bill of rights was the first 10 amendments to the constitution which listed the freedoms of the peopls. This was significant because it took back on what the government's rcould do for the people and let the citizens be more independent. -

The American System sought to unify the national economy, It esentially hurt producers in the South, but was good for the farmers in the west and north/east. It was significant because the economy in the south depended on the production of cotton and tariffs and taxes were placed on cotton, therefore people stopped purchasing it, This then lead to the panic of 1837 of southern plantation owners, -
Missouri Compromise
The Missouri Compromise consisyed of 3 elements: 1.Missouri became a slave state 2. Maine became a free state 3.The number of slave states had to equal the number of free states. This was significant to the US because this helped lead to the Civil War. -

This was significant because it limited the amount of immigrants working in america and allowed the original residents and citizens to keep their jobs. -

The Kansas- Nebraska Act was when the people who lived in Kansas and Nebraska decided if they wanted slavery or not. This act was significant because it gave the us citizens more say in what was happening in their country. -
Emancipation Proclamation
The Emancipation Proclamatin freed the slaves, The significance of it was that it changed the purpose of the war. The amount of blacks in the military increased tremendously. It also helped keep Europe from aiding the South. -
15th Amendment
The 15th Amendment provided suffrage for all adult males. The significance of it was that it was the first time that african americans could vote. -

Mark Twain was the face of this era. He said everything basically looked fine on the outside but was actually werent fine underneath. It was significant to the US mainly because of the huge increase in population during this time period. -

The Quota Act was highly restrictive. It was mainly used to keep immigrants from coming into the us. It was significant because it helped the us citizens keep their jobs, unlike the past where they would lose them all to the immigrants. -

in ww2, the us was neutral until pearl harbor. the us allies won because of the political and military cooperation. The significance of the war was that it encouraged immigration from mexico to the us. -

foreign policy used the idea of containment to contain the spread of communism. this was significant to the us because we were highly against communism. -

NATO was the north atlantic treaty organization and it was used to protect the members from a soviet union attack. The significance to this was to use the idea of containment to keep communisn from getting to the us. -

the 2nd red scare was when senator joseph mccarthy was accusing just about everyone of communism and he had his theory of mccarthyism which lead to an increase in worry about communism. this was significant because the us govrenment was a highly talked about topic and was highly ranked -
Civil Rights
The civil rights act banned segregation and distreatment of colored people. The significance of this to the us was that everyone here now had to be treated the same. so all the segregated bathrooms, buses, restaurants, schools, etc. were taken away -

The concept of Great America was basically just a plan to make america better, Medicare, medicade and those aspects were brought into place now. the significance was that the government and the people were just trying to better our nation. -

The sunbelt was the mass migration to the south and the west. the significance of this was that the population in the warmer areas grew and made them a more popular area. -

the war on terrorism led to the war in afghanistan which led to the war in raq. the significance of this was that the us didnt have good relations with those places.
