• birth

Yellowknife, NWT, Canada - I was brought into this world
  • Period: to

    22 years of my life

I resonate with the phrase or saying "product of your environment" because your childhood, where you grew up, the people that surrounded you, what culture(s) you were exposed to, your life experiences, and so on have contributed to the person you have become. I think this is true for everyone, but with time, of course, things change; hopefully for the best!
  • birth of sister

Another Yellowknife baby! A best friend is born.
  • start of preschool

I remember always being late to school and feeling different about it
  • start of kindergarten

again, off to a strange start. cultural differences were apparent; I would call them 'core memories'.
  • Period: to

    elementary school

these years I would describe as very formative. many different struggles, learning about myself, and socialization. my differences became more apparent, but also i gained a lot of valuable relationships, in particular, with teachers and educators. they were my home away from home.
  • Period: to

    high school

lots of travel; I was fortunate to be able to go on international trips. I also started my love for cooking and food here.
  • covid - 19 pandemic

when the pandemic hit, I was in my last semester of upgrading. it was an interesting time of doing nothing. I knew I had to leave and do something though. I started working at an early learning center and it was really hard. I was discouraged from working in elcc from my experience. I was thankfully able to attend a summer camp which has followed me to this day and i am really proud to say that I am on it's board today.
  • Period: to

figuring it out - unexpected and extended gap year

through working odd jobs and some difficult ones, i found YU and was excited to start a new learning journey. I put myself in the science stream and did not enjoy it. after my first year here, I made the switch to early learning.
  • Period: to

    early learning journey

now we're here. I am getting closer to finishing my diploma and probably moving home to continue this journey.
