    In the summer of 1776 the U.S colonies separated from England in order to become its own country and they did it by signing the Declaration of Independence. This is important since it is the beginning of the U.S.

    During Jeffersons Presidency he decided to buy the Louisiana territory for around $300,000,000 in todays money from the french. This is important since it doubled the size of the U.S which lead to the expansion to the west.
  • Trail of Tears

    The Trail of Tears was an early way of Manifest Destiny in which the Colonies removed Native Americans from their land in order to expand farm land. This is important since it displaced and killed thousand of Native Americans further showing us how little they thought of them.

    The Mexican American war was a war between Mexico and the U.S in which the U.S tried to obtained land from Mexico. The U.S won and ended up getting land which currently is California New Mexico and Arizona. This is important since it added to the expansion of the U.S

    The war was between the Union and the Confederacy as the Confederacy tried to separate from the Union since they wanted to keep slavery. This war is important since it is what led to the abolishment of slavery and what gave somewhat equal rights to african-americans.

    On August 18, 1920, the 19th amendment granted women the right to vote in the U.S. This was an important step for the Women's Suffrage movement since they finally got a chance to decide how their government works.
  • The Great Depression

    After the market crash of 1929 the U.S market slowly started crashing as millions lost their jobs as unemployment rose to 25%. This event is important since it was a devastating time for Americans since a majority of them became homeless and couldn't afford basic needs.
  • Pearl Harbor

    In the midst of WW2 the Japanese decided to bomb a military base in Pearl Harbor which lead to the U.S joining the war. This is important since it showed how a single country was able to turn the tides in a world war for a second time as the U.S defeated both Nazi Germany and the Imperial Japanese.

    ON 9/11 2 terrorist planes crashed into the twin towers in New York killing thousands of people. This was important since although a tragic time Americans came together and united in their mourning

    In 2009 after beating John McCain Barack Obama became the first African-american president of the United States. This was a step forward towards civil rights since it's the first time a non-white men had hold that position.
