    Common Schools Movement
    The Common schools Act made sure that every child received an appropriate education funded by local taxes. The objective of Common Schools was to supply all kids with moral instructions and equalize the conditions of men. The movement assured that schools serve individuals of all social classes, religions, and social status.
  • Compulsory School Attendance

    Compulsory School Attendance
    The Compulsory School Attendance on January 1,1907 is an important event on the history of education because it is a requirement that students must be enrolled in and assist to school, it can be private or public education. It is mandatory for children with a certain age to go to school for a length of time. This law can vary by states.
  • Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)

    Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)
    In the 1900’s people with a disability were treated unfairly. On February 24, 1922, CEC organization were the first group supporting children with disabilities. This organization recognized the talents of disabled students.     It was a hard time for women to find employment and there was an inequality in the women’s employments. The Feminization of teaching on September 15, 1930, was a movement that offered a great number of attractions as a job for women. there is a great number of women teaching in elementary schools in all the USA and around the world.
  • The Brown v. Board of Education

    The Brown v. Board of Education
    The U.S Supreme Court rules that set up racial segregation in public schools are unconstitutional. Separate but equal education introduced a sense of inferiority when it was eliminated, it prohibited the segregation in schools.     Many years ago, kids with special needs did not have any right in public school education. This act assured special education for children's with ISO4. Pennsylvania law assured quality education for all mental disability children. The state concurs to provide a free public education for all children with mental disabilities.
  • The Vocational rehabilitation acts

    The Vocational rehabilitation acts
    Earlier in the 1960’s students with disabilities were excluded from public education. During this period schools only provided education to 1 out of 5 children with disabilities. It was in September 26,1973 Section 504 that forbid discrimination against any individual with a disability. This law included elementary and secondary schools.
  • Public Law 94-142

    Public Law 94-142
    On November 29, 1975, President Ford signed a law named The Education for All Handicapped Children Act or also recognized as (Public Law 94-142). This law ensured a free education or FAPE for all the children with disabilities all around the United State in a less restrictive environment. This law now is known as (IDEA), it supports special education.

    American with Disability act (ADA)
    President George Bush signed the American with Disability Act on July 26, 1990. This law prohibited discrimination against disabled individuals in the fallowing areas, employment, transportation, schools, and local government programs. This law ensured that every child with a disability received an appropriate education.
  • No Child Left Behind Act

    No Child Left Behind Act
    This was a congress act that supported many federal educational programs that are provided by the states. This act offered school choice options, equal and fair education for each student. In 2022 the act required to test students that are coursing grades from 3-8 and during high school (standardized testing). When George Bush signed this Act, it created a new standard for public schools around the country. In the 2015 ESSA substitute the No Child Behind Act.
  • Civics Learning Act

    Civics Learning Act
    The teaching Citizenship Act of 2021 will generate a Civic Education and a Grant program to help with the implementation off high equality in K-12 public schools. This Act provides finance for learning programs about civic. The goal of this Act is to improve the students’ knowledge about civic concepts. This would prioritize funding for underfunded schools.
