U.S Vs Microsoft
On April 3, Microsoft was convicted by the federal government in the case ruling by violating the anti-trust laws. Microsoft was convicted because they reduced the capability of its rivals to compete. The Justice department of the United States proposed a settlement that would require Microsoft to share its application programming interfaces with other lower companies rather than breaking up into two separate companies.

Birth
On this day I was born into the world. This day is very important to my family and I in which we celebrate each year. I was 9 pounds, the biggest baby my mom delivered. I was also the first girl born into my family with four older brothers. -
911
On September 11, 2001 four planes were hijacked by terrorists part of al- Qaeda. Two planes crashed into the twin towers destroying the buildings. The other two planes crashed into the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania. Overall 2,973 people died which left a lasting effect on the people and government. War With Iraq
On March 19, the U.S and coalition forces started a war with Iraq after explosions began in Baghdad. George W. Bush initiated this war because of the idea that Saddam Hussein was building weapons of mass destruction. Saddam Hussein went into hiding, however was found and arrested. He was found guilty of crimes against humanity and was executed. Starting Dance
When I was three years old, my mom put me in dance class. I would cry every class and run back to my mom. However, my mom kept putting me in class no matter how embarrassing it was for her. This is important to me because I love dancing, and even though I might not have wanted to at a young age, I am glad I do it today. Dance is a special part of my life and is something that I hope I do not stop doing. -
U.S lifts Restrictions on Travel to Libya.
After Libya took responsibility for the bombing of Pan Am flight 103, the U.S government lifted the ban on travel to Libya. Because of this lift, it allowed American corporations to do lucrative business legally and would help Gadhafi emerge from semi-isolation. The U.S lifted the ban because Libya seeked to build a new world free of weapons of mass destruction and terrorism.

Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina was a category five hurricane that caused hundreds of deaths for Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, and Louisiana. The U.S national guard was used to help with rescue and evacuation. However, they were criticized because of treating evacuees as combatants rather than victims. This caused mass looting and violence which made the police focus on this rather than rescue. The government was not ready for the hurricane, which left many isolated.

Starting Soccer
When I was about five years old, I was put into soccer. My whole family, especially my dad, is obsessed with soccer. I was not a very big fan of soccer when I was younger, but I am today and I am glad that I started. I played with Fox Chase my whole life up to the age of 15. Now I play for Abington. Soccer is a big part of my life that I enjoy doing. It is a passion of mine that I hope to play throughout all my high school years. -
Great American Boycott
On May 1, immigrants and supporters boycotted by skipping work and school for the day to protest immigration laws. Organizers wanted participants to boycott all aspects of commerce. Protesters marched the streets of cities to get their word out. Virginia Tech Massacre
The Virginia Tech Massacre was one of the deadliest shootings in U.S history, killing 32 people. A senior at the college, Cho, went room to room shooting people and eventually killed himself. The school was fined because of the failed campus-wide warning. This event led to questioning over gun control in the American government.

Electing Obama
Barack Obama was elected the 44th president of the U.S beating John McCain. The election of Obama broke a racial barrier in American politics, for he was the first African American president. Obama was able to put Democrats in control of the Senate and White House.Obama proposed to cut taxes, get U.S out of Iraq, and expand health care during his presidency.

BART police shooting
A BART police officer, named Johannes Mehserle, shot an unarmed African American man named Oscar Grant, killing him. The officer was placed in prison for 11 months for manslaughter. The Ninth U.S Circuit Court of Appeals stressed the role of the lead officer Anthony Pirone because of training. Protests were led out because of the excessive force of the police. This led to questioning about police brutality in the government and what should be done.

Sister was born
On this day my younger sister, Erin, was born. This was a special day for me because she is my only sister out of five brothers. When my dad was on the phone that day, he told me that the baby was a girl ,and I did not believe him. Neither did anyone else. However, it was true. My sister and I have shared a special bond since that day and I hope it lasts and stays that way. -
Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill
This was the largest marine oil spill that was located in the Gulf of Mexico. A surge of natural gas exploded through a weak concrete core. The natural gas traveled to the rig and exploded killing 11 workers. To clean up the oil spilled, 1.8 million gallons of dispersants were pumped into the leak. Government agencies such as the National Response team, U.S Coast Guard, and EPA were used to help cleanup efforts. This shows that in accidents, the U.S is there to help.

Dance Scholarship
At the end of every dance season, my dance teacher gives out a scholarship that pays for the entire year of dance and a solo. In 2010, I was lucky enough to get this scholarship. It proved that my hard work paid off and that I could excel more in other dance classes. It boosted my confidence and made me the dancer I am today. -
Confirmation
In 5th grade I made my confirmation. I am a Catholic and this sacrament was very special to me. I showed my true devotion to my religion. It also increased my faith in my religion. -
Killing of Osama bin Laden
Osama bin Laden was the person behind the 911 terror attacks. He was killed on this day by U.S forces in his hideout in Pakistan. No Americans were injured and bin Laden's body was buried in an unidentified area in Arabian Sea. The U.S government put efforts behind this attack and were successful. This event showed the commitment of the U.S governement in its fight against terroism.

Dare Award
In 6th grade, there was an organization called D.A.R.E. that would come every Friday to my school. One day they asked us all to write about what we learned from it and how D.A.R.E. impacted our lives. I was chosen out of my class to read my paper aloud to the 6th grade, at the Senior High School. I was very proud of myself for getting picked and having the courage to go up on the stage in front of hundreds of people. It proved that my effort paid off and my confidence increased after this event. -
Sandy Hook Shooting
The Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting left 20 children and six adults dead. The shooter Adam Lanza broke into the school and started shooting. This shooting sparked the argument over gun control regulations. There have been many arguments over this and it has put a hard decision on the government. This event also showed the heroes that the teachers and first responders were by protecting the students.

Boston Marathon Bombing
On this day two bombs were placed near the finish line of the Boston Marathon killing three and wounding 260 people. Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev were the suspects found.The investigation involved more than 1,000 federal, state, and local law officials. The Boston area was on lock down while the police searched for these victims. When found, evidence was found that the bombings were committed because of U.S wars in Muslim countries.

Minimum Wage Increase
Minimum wage is an ongoing issue and president Obama put attention to the issue in 2014. Obama proposed to increase the minimum wage for workers under new federal contracts to $10.10 in his State of Union address. This would affect more than 2 million employees, however some people disagree with the decision. People believe that the increase will discourage businesses from hiring more workers. Cousin's wedding
This day was my cousin's wedding. I was picked to be the junior bridesmaid in her wedding. This was very special to me to be picked because it showed our bond as cousins. I got to share this special moment with her and have fun while doing it. -
First Pet
On Christmas, I got my first pet, which is a bunny. I was very excited and so were my brothers and sister. I have never had a pet before and a bunny is a perfect fit for our family. His name is Coal and he is a dwarf bunny. Getting a pet made me realize the love I have for animals and gave me the responsibility I need to take care of him. -
Contamination of water in Flint
Flint Michigan decided to switch over to the water supply to the Flint River to save money but it led to contamination. President Obama issued a federal state of emergency in Flint, Michigan because of the contaminated water. Obama ordered federal aid including FEMA to provide water and water filters. Making Varsity Soccer
This year I made varsity soccer. This is a very big accomplishment for me that I worked very hard for. I realized that my hard work payed off and notice my love for soccer. This achievement pushed me to become an even better soccer player and work hard during every practice to improve.
