    Fort Sumter Battle was the first battle of the Civil War. It took place from April 12-13, 1861. Fort Sumter was fired upon by the Confederate.

    It was the first major battle of the Civil War. It took place on July 21, 1861. The Confederates won the battle.

    It was given on January 1, 1862. It was an order to free slaves. Only 50,000 were set free.

    The battle was fought on September 17, 1862. It took place near Sharpsburg, Maryland. The battle was a tie from a military standpoint.

    The battle took place from May 18, 1863 to July 4, 1863. Union won the battle. It gave control of the Mississippi River to the Union.

    The battle took place from July 1, 1863 to July 3, 1863. The battle was a major turning point for the war. There were around 46,000 casualties and 8,000 deaths.

  • Shermans March

    General Sherman led 100,000 men into the southern city of Atlanta.
    He defeated Confederate General John Hood at the Battle of Atlanta. He finnaly took control of Atlanta on September 2, 1864.

    On April 9, 1865 General Robert E. Lee surrendered to Union. General Grant and the Union Army had the Confederates surrounded. The Confederates were low on supplies, many soldiers were deserting.
