The origin of math
The fist evidence for more complex mathematics does not appear until around 3000 BC, when the Babylonians and Egyptians began using arithmetic, algebra and geometry for taxation and other financial calculations, for building and construction, and for astronomy. This is a very important mark in our technological history as none of the devices, machines or coding around us could ever have been made without mathematics. Modern technology would be unthinkable without mathematics. -
Michael Faraday
The Father of Electricity, Michael Faraday was born on September 22, in 1791. The English scientist, who is responsible for the discovery of electromagnetic induction, electrolysis and diamagnetism. His invention/discovery made it possible to use electricity in technology setting the foundation for all future developments and usage of electricity powered devices, such as computers, telephones and the computer mouse. -
Charles Babbage
The first computer was invented in 1822 by Charles Babbage. He developed a computer which is considered the first automatic computing machine which was capable of computing several sets of numbers and making hard copies of the results, it was named the Difference Engine. His design became a blueprint and inspiration for the development of other, more complex machines. Such as the modern computer. -
The first coder - Ada Lovelace
Ada Lovelace was the world's first computer programmer, writing the world's first computer program in 1842. Her famous work was a translation of Charles Babbage theories surrounding the Difference Engine, where she describes how the machine could perform and repeat a series of instructions(a program). Her text is considered the first description of computer programming, and she the first programmer. Her work had great importance as she laid the foundation for all modern computer programming. -
The first functioning programming language
The first functioning programming languages that were designed to communicate instructions to a computer were written in the early 1950s by John Mauchly's. It was called Short Code, which was one of the first high-level languages developed for an electronic computer. The inventions of programming languages is important as they are needed to write efficient programs and develop online solutions such as mobile applications, web applications, and games etc. -

Douglas Engelbart was an American/Norwegian inventor data developer. He is best known for inventing the first computer mouse in 1964. The computer mouse changed how humans interacted with computers. The computer mouse made computing more accessible and easy by creating a simple way to manipulate information, click, drag, copy and execute programs. -

Tim Berners-Lee
In 1989 British scientist Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web(www). The web was originally created and developed to meet the demand for automated information sharing between scientists in between universities and institutes around the world. His invention is very important to computers and coding as it opened up the internet to everyone, not just scientists. It connected the world in a new way and made it much easier for people to get information, learn and communicate.
