Handheld Mobile Phone
Martin Cooper, a Motorola researcher and executive, made the first mobile telephone call from handheld subscriber equipment, placing a call to Dr. Joel S. Engel of Bell Labs. The prototype weighed 2.5 pounds and measured 9 inches long, 5 inches deep and 1.75 inches wide. It offered a talk time of just 30 minutes and took 10 hours to re-charge. -
Global Positioning System (GPS)
In 1973 the military discussed the creation of a a Defense Navigation Satellite System, which was the birth of the idea of the GPS. This is important because it lead to things like being able to track phones and find people when they are in distress, and also locate certain things that are missing that have GPS technology. -

In the 1980's, researchers were successfully able to do video conferencing. This was impossible before because of high cost and a lack in technological resources. This is important because it is one of the biggest parts of people being able to work at home (telecommuting). -

This is important because it became the most important computer software in the world. Most computers can't even run without it. It was a breakthrough because it is what made computers easier to work with and made them useful in everyday life. -

The first PDa was released by Psion called the Organizer II. It is important because it was kind of the iphone of our parent's generation. It help with organization and scheduling. -

The fx-7000G was introduced in 1985. This is important because we have a lot of complex calculators and graphing calculators are one of the most important calculators in the world. -
Tablet Computers
The tablet computer was almost just a science fiction until 1994 acorn computers developed a touch screen tablet. This is important because it is almost like a larger version of the IPhone. Basically it's a portable computer much smaller than a laptop. -
USB Flash Drive
Trek Technology and IBM began selling the first USB drives in 2000, a patent for it was filed in 1999. This is important because it allowed us to save our files and keep them with us to other computers so we didnt have to save it on computer hardware all the time. -
IPod
The ipod is important because it is the most popular music player in the world and has lead to things such as the IPhone and the IPad. It is what gave Apple it's power. -
Tesla Cars
This is one of the first electric cars that has succedded and can actually save buyers money in the long run. this is important because it sets the bar for electric cars. -
IPhone
This phone was really the first tough screen cell phone distrbuted to the public. It was a break through because as it got better with improvements, it has become one of the most useful tools in any business. -
Google Glass
The release date on Google Glass has not been determined. This is important because this could be a huge break through. We could record things we see and plan things and a whole lot more with just the movement of our eyes. -
Wearable Technology
Under armour has been working on a wearable technology. It is a suit that displays certain things for the athlete wearing it like heart rate, pace, and etc. This is important because it can change the way athletes train.
