Crusades
The gains from the crusades were food, spices, and instruments. The crusades were religious wars between the Catholics and the Muslims. They fought over Jerusalem (Holy Land). The Europeans wanted the goods from. The trip to Asia was very difficult. This is important because the crusades brought an end to the middle ages. It also helped people begin to explore. -

The Black Plague
The Black Plague killed 1/3 of the Europe population, that's over 25 million people. People believed it was a punishment from God. People made a nursery rhyme called "Ring Around the Rosey". This is important because it killed over 25 million people and it got rid of the feudul system, so everyone became even. -

Dias Voyage
Bartolomeu Dias was sent by the king John II to explore the coast of Africa and find a way to Indian Ocean. Dias departed circa August 1487, rounding the southernmost tip of Africa in Jan. 1, 1488. They named this point the Cape of Good Hope. Dias was lost at sea during another expedition around the Cape in 1500. This is important because people are trying to find new routes to Asia. -

Christopher believed you could sail west to reach to east. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabell gave supplies and money. They gave him 3 ships named the Nina, Pinta, and the Santa Mania. He landed in the Carribbean, he never landed in the US. This is important because he finds new land for Spain. -

His first message was Vatherine of Aragon. It was a arranged marriage. Catherine of Aragon was a Spanish, Catholic princess. He needed a boy to pass the throne. He didn't want a girl because they were supposedly too weak to be a good ruler. She has many miscarriages until she finally gets a girl named Mary. This is were they got Bloody Mary This is important because they were two whole different religions. -

Juan Ponce de Leon was a Spanich conquistador. He explored modern day US. He explored the south and central of Florida. He wanted to find gold and the fountain of youth. This is important because there would be no permanent colony in FLorida if he never found it. -

Posting of 95 thesis
On Oct. 31, 1517 a monk named Martin Luther put 95 thesis on the door of the Wittenburg Church. This marked the beginning of the Protestant Reformation. The pope demanded Luther to take back his 95 thesis and Luther refused. Luther was excommunicated from the church and began his own church named Lutheranism. This event is important because it started the Protestant Reformation. -

Cortes Defeats the Aztecs
In 1518 Hernan Cortez went to Mexico to find gold. Moctozuma thought Cortez was Quetzacoatl. Corez destroyed the Aztec empire. He brought diseases to the Aztec empire. This is important because the Aztecs were the strongest Native group. -

King Henry VIII est. Anglican Church
King Henry VIII asked for a divorce but the Catholic Church did not allow him. The King kept asking but the pope kept refusing. So the King broke up with the Church to make a new one. He only wanted a boy so he can pass over the throne. This is important because he broke up with Catholic Church to make a new one. -
Roanoke Colonization Attempt
Walter Raleigh established Roanoke in modern day Virginia. The colony vanished with no explanation. He left to go get supplies and came back about 3 years later, and everyone was gone. This is important because this was supposed to be the first permanent colony but it failed because everyone just vanished. It also took England about 20 years to try colonizing again. -
Jamestown est.
The Virginia found Jamestown, King James I gave permission for 144 men to start a colony in Virginia. They had 3 ships named Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery. In 1607 they arrived and named the colony Jamestown in honor of King James I. This is important because this is the first colony in the U.S. -
Plymouth est.
The 100 men and women that King James I sent to North America were aboard the Mayflower. The Mayflower landed on shore in Cape God, MA. This is important because this is one of the 1st colonies in North America. -
Washington Kills French Ambassador
When Washington killed the French Ambassador that started the war between the French and Great Britian. The Seven Years war brought up to the Treaty of Paris, 1763. This is important because it started a war between Great Britian and French. -
Gen. Braddock is killed
General Braddock arrived in Virginia in Febuary 1755 to take command against the French in North America. He appeared on a horse and the horse kept swaying to and fro. He died on July 13, while the whole army retreated. This is important because this helped the colonies win the war. -
Treaty of Paris, 1763
This treay ended the French and Indian war, also called the seven years war. This ended the wr between Great Britian and France. For this treaty, France gave up all its territories in Mainland North America. The seven years war made the British independent. This is important because the British wouldn't have the colonies if they lost. -
Proclamation Act
Pontiac (Avative leader ) attack British forts. England wanted no more wars because England was broke. So they made a rule to help stop the attacks of the Indians. They made no one moving post the Appalachiao. This is important because British people would keep dying, so they made no one allowed past the Appalachion Mountian. -
Sugar Act
Parliment placed a tax on sugar and molasses that were imported from foregin countries. A man named James Otis said " No taxtion without Representation, " there was no representation in Parliment. This is important because this started the road to independence. -
The Stamp Act
The Parliment placed atax on printed materials. This was the 1st. direct tax on the colonist. The HoB said VA residents. The Sons of Liberty held demonstrations to show dislike for the new taxes. This is important because this was the direct tax. -
The boston Tea Party
This required the colonist to only buy British Tea. They placed taxes on the tea. On Decemeber 16, 1773, the Sons of Liberty demaned the British East Indian Tea in the Boston Harbor. This is important because this keeps pushing the redcoast. -
The Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was made by the Committee of Five. The Committee of Five's members are Benjamin FRanklin, John Adams, Robert Livingston, Roger Sherman, and Thomas Paine. The members decided to let Thomas Jefferson write the Declaration of Independence. This is important because this makes us free. -
Yorktown
Gen. CornWallis's goal was to march to VA. He also wanted George Washington's tactics. Benedict Arnold was a patriot and was a trader and sold secrets to the redcoats. Washington and the French Fleet surrounded the British. This is important because this was the first battle. -
Treaty of Paris, 1783
The treaty of Paris, 1783 gave the Patriots freedom from the British. Lord North was representing the British and was the mouth peice to the king. It officially gave the U.S. the Declaration of Indepedence/ The war is officially over. This is important because the war is over and we are free. -
The war of 1812
The British attempts to restrict trade upon the U.S. and they captured the U.S. sailors. The fighting began in July in the same year. The U.S. had less than 7000 troops. They realized whoever had control of Lake Erie would win the war. The U.S. wins the war in December 24, 1814. This is important because this proves that we can stick up for ourselves. -
Texas War of Indepedence
THe war is between Mexico and Texas. The war was because they did not want to follow Santa Anna and they did not want to follow Mexican rules. Texas gained freedom from Mexico and became independent. This is important because Texas becomes a state in 1845 and was indepedent for 9 years. -
The Gold Rush
People from all over the world rushed to California for gold. The population was so big that it changed the city's and state forever. In 1839 John Stutter is a Swiss imigrant. In 1839, California was Mexican territory. John Stutter lied about his past and and the Mexicans gave him more than 50,000 acres of land and made him a Mexican citizen. This is important because it influenced people to come to California.
