    Addition of Title VI to ESEA
    Congress adds Title VI to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 creating a Bureau of Education for the Handicapped
  • Mills vs. D.C. Board of Education

    Mills vs. D.C. Board of Education
    The Supreme Court ruled that students with disabilites must have access to public education. It established that "all children are entitled to free public education and training appropriate to their learning capacities."
  • Section 504 of the Rehabilatation Act

    This extended the civil rights of persons with disabilities in several areas including education.
