Columbus was looking for a shorter route to Asia but found himself and his crew in “New World.” After years of asking around to see who would fund his voyage Spain's King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella agreed to fund the voyage. -

Cortes voyage
He sailed for Mexico to get gold for Spain. He conquered the Aztec Empire and found about nine tons of gold. He helped start exporation in North and South America. -

Pineda's voyage
Pineda sailed for the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, but explored western Florida. He made an eight hundred mile map with shorelines and rivers and that helped further exploration. -

DeVaca Discovers Texas
DeVaca they sailed for Flordia, but got lost with no food. When they got lost at sea a huge Gale arose and landed on Galveston Island. Most proplr died either of starvation or the cold winter. At first the Spanish were slaves to the Indaiand until DeVaca preformed the first surgery and became medicine man. The Spanish found them eight years after the crash. -

Moscoso went from Flordia to Texas in search of gold. Also he gave the same basic report that Coronado did witch was, do not go to Texas because the land has nothing to offer, there is no gold, and the indians are difficult. -

Coronado's Expedition
Coronado wanted to find the seven cities of gold. Also he explored Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Kansas, and Oklahoma, yet he did find the Palo Duro Canyon and the Grand Canyon. He also reported to not go to Texas because the land has nothing to offer, there is no gold, and the indians are difficult. There was no exploration for one hundred and fifty years!
