Columus' First Vogage
Columbus sailed looking for a shorter route to Asia to find gold and riches for the queen and king of Spain. Instead of landing in Asia, he landed in ''the New World.'' He saw that the ''indians'' have gold and he wanted all of it. He soon demanded gold from the ''indians'' and even killed people for gold. Once he was back in Spain, the king and queen were not impressed. Columbus' vogage is important because it sparkled lots of attention to go find more gold and valueables. -

Cortes' Vogage
Cortes was to command his own expedition to Mexico. Although the trip was cancelled, he ignored and went with about 500 men and 11 ships. When he arrived, he saw a group of Natives. They were called the Aztecs and they lived in Mexico. Cortes ends up conquering Mexico and the Aztecs. It is important because Spain just gained more land which means more money for the Queen and King of Spain. -

De Vaca Discovers Texas
De Vaca ended up on Galveston due to a Gale, which is a very strong wind. When he landed, he was starving, dehydrated, and desperate. He was the first Eurpean to set bfoot on the soil of the future Lone Star State. Along his journey, he met the Karankawas, Coahuiltecans, and Jumanos. He spent a total of 8 years in Texas. -

Moscoso' expedition
De Soto was his leader. De Soto died on the banks of the Mississsippi river. Moscoso didnt find anything, he gave the same report as Coronodo. -

Fray Marcos and Esteban journey
Fray Marcos was sent to search for wealthy cities. Fray brought his slave, Esteban along with him. When Esteban approached a group of very mean indians and asked them where his ladies and food were, the indians chased hime with spears and knifes. He was never heard from ever again. Fray Marcos reported that he saw a giant city of gold. -
Pineadas Vogage
Pineada mapped the gulf. It is important that he did this becuase that means that another explorer has to explore what he mapped. This triggers more exploration on the gulf and by the gulf. -
De Vaca Part 1 start day
De Vacas leader was Narvaez. The purpose was to claim territory from Florida to Mexico for Spain. Three of the boats in the expedition were lost, including the expedition leader, Narvaez. Some explorers washed up shore just to dye from starvation or indian attack. -
Coronodo's expedition
Coronodo was looking for the two cities Quivera and Cibola. Fray Marcus was his first guide, but he ran away in the middle of the night becuase he was afraid of getting blamed for not telling the truth. The turk led him to Quivera. Coronodo discovered the Palo Duro Canyon and the Grand Canyon. it is important because he ended exploration for about 150 years.
