    Christopher Columbus was looking for a new or faster route to get to asia and india. He was trying to find an easier route to get riches and spices. He discovered North America and found what is now known to be the taino Idians. Christopher Columbus called them idians because he thought he was in Indida.Christopher Columbus died thinking he found India and Asia.

    Pineda set sail for florida in 1519. Pineda was the first person to map the coast from florida to texas. This is important because later other people and spaniards used Pinedas map to explore the coast.

    Cortes conquered the aztecs in Mexico. The indians saw him as a god and treated him like royality. He got 99 tons of gold.What cortes did was important becuase then after he found all that gold people started wanting to explore.

    Fray Marcos and Esteban went to try to go find the 7 cities of gold (cibola). During the journey esteban demanded food and women from the zunis, so they killed him. After estebans death Fray marcos reported to have seen the seven cities of gold.

    De Vaca discovered Texas because they got shipwrecked on what is now Galveston Island. They were starving, dehydrated, and desperate. De Vaca was in texas for 8yrs.

    Moscoso, and his leader De Soto, set sail hoping to find riches in America. The crew traveled through east Texas and discovered the Mississippi river, but they found no gold. This is important because Moscoso supported on what Coronado reported that there was no gold and the land is harsh so this also cause lack of exploration for 150 yrs.

    Coronados expedition
    Coronadowas sent for to look for the 7 cities of gold or cibola. He went there just to see that Cibola was just an Indian village. He later was told about another gold city called Quivera. Yet again Coronado only found another Indian village with no gold. The two cities that Coronado searched for were Cibola (7 cities of gold) and Quivera. This was very important because after Coronado reported that there was not gold in Texas, the spanish stop expolring there for 150 yrs.
