Columbus was looking for Silk, Spices and other goods. He ended up finding Gold and other goods. He was thinking he was going through a quicker rought to Asia and India but he actually landed in North America. This led to the starting of Spanish Exploration and the finding of riches. -

The voyage of Cortes
Cortes wants to find gold and lands in Mexico. He conquered the Aztect Indains and even the leader, Montezuma. He gets a lot of what he wants ($6 million). This will cause lots of people to want to explore North and South America. -

Pineda, one smart guy!
Pineda's goal was to find a route of water through the Pacific ocean. He brought back tons of gold and made the first map ever of the Gulf (from Flordia to Texas). This map made others (eventually) explore the Gulf Coast. -

De Vaca & Esteban
They were wanting to search for gulf in Flordia with the help of leader Narvas. They were the first people to explore Texas, the first people to write about the indains and to preform the first ever "surgery" in Texas. The first three indaians they discovered were the Kawankawa, Couhiltecean and Jumano. It was reported that there was 7 cities of gold. This made lots of people want to check out Texas. -

De Vaca finds Texas, a big wave (gulp) throws him and his crew on Galveston Island. He stayed there for a long time (he was friends with some indains). -

They wanted to study land to the North Evaluate, they explored Texas and New Mexico. They were told of seeing a city of Gold (larger than Mexico City).Conquisladors are sent to look for the city. -

Thgis explorer is like Coronado and gives the same report (which doesn't help Texas any). He does discover the Mississippi River but not his what he (and everyone at that time) was looking for... Gold! -

He was wanting to find 7 cities of Gold but instead he discovered 5 new states and on his second trip he was looking for Quivera. He reported to the other Spanish Texas was bad and not to go to it. It was that report that made Texas unexplore for a long time.
