Birth
On this day Simon Bolivar was born into a very successful and wealthy family. Both of his parents owned mines and plantations across his home country of Venezuela. When Bolivar was just four, his parents passed away. After this, Simon used the wealth to get a good education and grow to be an intelligent military leader.

Start of French Revolution
This time period was inspired by the American Revolution and was based off Enlightenment ideas. The king at the time made hardships for his citizens living in the third estate, or lowest social class. Also, King Louis XVI had put his own country in debt. Monarchs and government officials were killed by a new invention called the guillotine. Eventually Napoleon would come into power and lead France in one of Europe's most powerful empires.

Wife Dies
Maria Teresa, young wife of Simon Bolivar passes away. She had died in Caracas, Venezuela. The couple had been married for only a year but were together since 1800. This death had impacted Simon bolivar greatly. The future military leader would start to be acquainted with philosophy and change an abundance of people’s lives.

Voyage to Europe
To overcome the grief of the death of his wife, Bolivar set off for Spain. While in this country, Simon witnessed Joseph Bonaparte being a monarch for Spain. The trip did not only make him loose respect for Napoleon, but it also inspired him to construct a plan to obtain independence for not only his home country of Venezuela, but also the rest of Spanish America. Once he returned to Venezuela in 1807 he would start to make his dream come true.

Lewis and Clark Expedition
Both William Clark and Meriwether Lewis set off for the west but first started in Missouri. This expedition was to find other forms of life as well as land that was inhabitable for the American citizens. They were able to find out that the land was inhabitable. The Lewis and Clark Expedition was able to expand America. Also, the United States now had an economic growth due to new resources that were found. For example, gold.

Joins Patriotic Society
This group is responsible for revolts that were held in order to gain independence. By May Bolivar became the leader of the society as well as a Colonel in the militia. These promotions will lead to independence much sooner than expected, because of his desire for it.

Beethoven Releases Fur Elise
Fur Elise is one of Beethoven's first and most popular pieces of work. This song will change music forever. He was the first composer to use an orchestra in his music. Also, the world of music would be changed forever. Instead of music having music about religion, Beethoven made his music about freedom.

Venezuela's Declaration of Independence
Venezuela's radicals within the government, including Simon Bolivar, pushed for freedom by adopting a declaration of independence. Mostly inspired by the United States winning independence from Great Britain. Venezuela was the first country in South America to start to gain independence. Not only will this be the start of war, but it will also inspire other countries to do the same actions.

The War of 1812
The war of 1812 was America's last war with Great Britain. Some causes were that Britain attempted to block all trade with the U.S. Most of this war was on the Canadian border. The wars more south were mostly lead by Andrew Jackson. The war ended with the signing of the Treaty of Ghent. One significant thing that came out of this war was the star spangled. This anthem was written about a battle that took place during this war.

Napoleon Retreats from Moscow
Napoleon invaded Moscow once they refused to agree to the continental system. On June 24th, 1812 he went into Russia with an army of 500,000 soldiers. Unfortunately, Russia was able to continuously fight and weaken Napoleons army. eventually he decided that enough was enough and retreated from Russia. Going into Russia will not only weaken the army, but also put France into debt.

Second Republic of Venezuela
Simon Bolivar created the Second Republic of Venezuela. By doing this he was able to start war with Spain. The leader was able to recapture Caracas from the Spaniards. The significance of this was that this was the first part of Venezuela that was free from Spain. After loosing most battles in that year, Bolivar the fled to Jamaica.

Bolivar Returns
Simon Bolivar had returned to Venezuela to continue to fight for independence. He started by capturing the town of Angostora. The military leader decided to have headquarters here which was a very smart move. This town is where most supplies and resources were. Now that Venezuela's army had an abundance of supplies and a substantial location for its headquarters, Bolivar was confident about winning independence.

Gaining Independence
Simon bolivar had finally gained independence in Venezuela as well as New Granada now known as Columbia. The first country to gain independence was not Venezuela but actually Columbia. After fighting three major battles in the year of 1821 he was able to liberate Venezuela. By gaining independence from these two countries alone, Simon Bolivar will go down in history as "El Liberator". The general will not stop here, he will continue to liberate Peru and Ecuador.

President Bolivar
General Simon Bolivar has gained independence for Peru. His actions is what inspired Venezuela to make him the president. Also, to remember his legacy, Peru takes the southern portion of it's country and creates a new country called Bolivia. Bolivia was named after the general himself so he could be honored in many ways.

The First Photograph
The first photograph was taken of an upstairs window in 1827. The photographer was Joseph Nicephore Niepce who was living in France at the time. This photo was the only surviving photo on the camera. By knowing that the camera did work, this inspired people to add onto it as well as take more pictures of things. As technology became better so did the camera, which is why camera quality is as good as it is today.

General Dies
Simon Bolivar was on his death bed then asked his doctor, "How will I ever get out of this labyrinth?" After saying those words, the former general had finally passed away from tuberculosis on December 17th, 1830. There have been many contradictions towards his death but besides that he will forever be honored in the South American countries he liberated from Spain.
