after attending inner temple law school in the united kingdom, gandhi passes the nar exam and becomes a laywer. while all this all this was happening Gandhi was unaware that his mother had passed away while he was at school. this even was important because Gandhi passing law school started off his journey to lead his people into freedom. -

Gandhi founds the Natal Indian Congress to expose a bill stopping the Indians a right to vote in South Africa. even thought the bill was passed allowing Indians a right to vote, Gandhi takes attention to the public of discrimanation to Indians throughout India and the UK. this is important because Gandhi gave the Indians a voice in the world. it also made the Indians aware that they were equal with everyone else. -
Gandhi is beaten up
When Gandhi landed in Durban harbour, South Africa, he was beated up by a group of migrants.possibly because they did not agree to Gandhis views and beliefs. The wife of the Durban police cheif stands between Gandhi and his assulters and saves Gandhis life. Alot of attention was brought to this event which forced the Colonila government to arrest the attackers. however Gandhi did not press charges on them. after wards Gandhi gains support and is admired by many. -
British government passes the rowlatt act
this gives the british the power to arrest and imprison those without needing to trial,The Indian National Congress creates the Hartal Movement. thousands of indians stopped working and stopped buying and selling British products. Gandhi wrote that the whole of India would complete a Hartal on that day (6 April 1919) sadly many riot occoured. on April 13 a British soldier came with 50 armed natives and ordered them to fire. they struck over 15thousand people and almost 400 died. -
