My Significant Events Timeline, by Lauren Freeman

  • Maps

Big flip maps were used in the classroom to describe locations in the world, especially for history classes. Today, maps are generally examined electronically like on smartboards and powerpoints starting in the mid 2000s.
  • Phones

I received a razor flip phone as a Christmas gift in middle school. The razor was relatively new at the time and an upgrade from the smaller, more generic flip phones that came out in the early 2000s.
  • Books to online readings

Up until the mid 2010s my experience with class readings were via textbooks. However, I now do more online readings than I do textbook readings.
  • Radio

Streaming services such as Apple Music replaced traditional radio services in the mid 2010s.
  • Computers

During my years as a student in secondary education we always went to the computer lab and accessed desktop computers there to do online work and use software programs. Upon arriving at home, I would continue online school work on a desktop computer. Starting in the mid 2010s, laptops started being used by students of all ages and a large population started acquiring laptops at home.
