    Throughout the years, industrialization has covered all areas of U.S life in all aspects. The importance of industrialization is the advancement of the nation as a whole due to the improvement of technology and new ideas. During the 1800s, factories multiplied, and demand for workers and supplies. While industrial cities grow, so do the laws for companies.
  • Romantic Movement

    Romantic Movement
    This was a social movement in the artistic, musical, literary, and intellectual areas. Most of its supporters are against industrialism, rationalism, and enlightenment. The beliefs that were behind this movement are relevant because it demonstrates a time of social change. People are creating new ideas that challenge ideologies that have been established.
  • 2nd Great Awakening

    2nd Great Awakening
    The protestant revival movement, which is called the 2nd Great Awakening, can be seen as an attempt to preserve American identity. The movement had a primary goal of soul-winning the function of ministry and stimulated several moral and philanthropic reforms, including temperance and the emancipation of women.

    When the cotton gin was introduced, it increased the benefits for the economy but negatively impacted socially and politically the African Americans. The cotton gin was invented to fasten the process of cotton while increasing the demand for slavery.

    In this time period, the industrialization and the need to expand the U.S multiplied. During this time, the establishment of new ideas and traditional ideas were being done and spread easily with the technology. Some contradicting events and movements occur only causing disapproval from some and support from others like the Romantic movement. Even though there was differences between groups, the aftermath of the war of 1812 somewhat unified the Americans, as it's called the Era of Good Feelings.

    Louisiana Purchase
    By making this purchase it gave Lousiana to the U.S, only increasing its power over the land. It made the U.S bigger in size. This only contributed to the remaining of the U.S identity of the desire of having control and power.
  • Marbury v Madison

    Marbury v Madison
    In this case, where Marbury sued Madison to get a commission, leading to the establishment of the judicial review. By making this doctrine, it gave the power to the Supreme Court to consider an act from Congress constitutional or unconstitutional. This was a political shift because it took power away from Congress, making the review a game-changer.

    Lewis and Clark expedition
    The prominence of this expedition is that it supported the expansion of U.S influence in the regions. This opened up opportunities for the fur and lumber trade and pointed out the best lands for future settlement and agriculture. The exploration of the unknown land and making trades with the Natives was just a way to increase power economically and possibly socially.

    The economic impact that steamboats had in the U.S life was needed. It expanded the transportation of goods and passengers in the market. New settlement was also influenced by steamboats because they were the transit. They had a big impact making the invention relevant to history.

    The involvement of the federal government to improve this highway makes it a political shift to improve the transportation system. This is a very important road because it also helped the economy by making the traveling of things easier.

    War of 1812
    The relevance of this event is the failing attempt of the Native Americans to block further expansion on their land. It also gave two centuries of peace between the nations.

    Era of Good Feelings
    Following the War of 1812, patriotism was at its best due to the feelings that the Americans had to unite. This also involved politics because the movement was influenced by partisan politics between the Federalists and Democratic-Republicans and the disintegration of the Federalist party.

    This compromise made it available to preserve a balance of what states are free or not. This is important because it made a parallel line that prohibited slavery in north of that line. It brought in. Missouri as a slave state while Maine stayed free.

    The Monroe Doctrine of 1823 was a resistance to the European powers. This was a way to assure that European nations would not interfere in U.S territory and if they did that the U.S would not tolerate that. This has kept continuity because it maintains the U.S identity from trying to be influenced by foreign nations.

    The significance of this event is that it transforms political perspectives. The election of 1828 broke the expectations of political views by Jackson representing the triumph of what its called the common man.

    This system is relevant to history because it replaced its merit system during that period. This allowed for people who won the election to basically give back to their supporters making this a political shift.
  • Public School Movement

    This movement made a political, social, and economic shift for the US life. This was to have the state finance the public schools for free education for teachers and children. Obviously this only was for white children and other factors like wealth and gender played a role in the education of who. Though it did form a foundation for free education.
  • Nullification crisis

    The crisis had to do with a political confrontation between South Carolina and the federal government. South Carolina declared the tariffs null, void, and nonbinding in the state by adopting the Ordinance of Nullification. This is an important event because this is where the Southerners went against protective tariffs that increased the sale of products and the manufacturers.

    The effect that this act had economically was that it limited the amount of Americans who purchased land. It made it more challenging for the working class because they weren't able to purchase land with silver or gold. Since this was a political act enacted it also works as a political shift.
  • Women's Rights Movement

    Women's Rights Movement
    This movement was meant to achieve equal economy, social status, and political status for the women. This movement induced many other reforms/movements. This second wave of feminism has the significance of promoting equality for all and in later years some feminists became abolitionists.
  • Universal White Male Suffrage

    Universal White Male Suffrage
    The life of adult men changed politically when the suffrage took place. This united all men of all economic status, race, or religion. This is an important time because its where the political limitations for voting started expanding.
