    The event that we chose for Egypt was when the lower and upper Egypt came together to form a united Egypt. This event changed Egypt because it meant that people from both upper and lower would come together in harmony and be one nation. Lives were changed as well because people who were used to being in a separate nation now had to come together and work with one another. This picture is significant because it is a hieroglyphic from the time period.

    A significant event in early Tunisia was when the Phoenicians settled there in the early 1300s. The change affected people's lives a lot because the native Tunisians were pushed out of their homelands. New people coming into your land would not be the best thing for the economy there would be fewer jobs and much less land. This picture is very significant because it shows when the Phoenicians coming to settle in Tunisia on boats.

    When Tunisia was conquered by the ottoman turks, it was a huge and incredible deal. It decided if north africa would be under christian or muslim rule. After they were conquered, they ended up being under muslim rule. It was considered the last and final conquest in Tunisia by the Ottoman turks. This event was also happening over phases. It didn’t all happen as once but over time. This picture is significant because it shows the war actually going on.

    The event that we chose for Algeria is when there was a plague that lasted from 1620 to 1621. This plague was a mass casualty and killed 30,000 - 50,000 people. This event changed the course of life in Algeria because after the plague there were not as many people to work in Algeria and many people were very poor. Also at this time the slave trade was very high and many people were going into slavery.

    A very important event for Chad, was when it became a new colony for French Africa. People's lives changed drastically because they were under a different rule. It might have been hard for some people to get adjusted to the new changes of rule. In all, it was a big change that people had to familiar with and it was an important change because it was a brand new colony for Africa and was new and exciting for them.

    In western Sahara, the event that we chose was when the Spanish came in 1934 and changed the western Sahara to the Spanish Sahara this drastically shifted people's lives. It changed how people lived because there were different rulers than people were used too. After the ruIe of the Spanish, the Western Sahara would always have Spanish influences. This picture was significant because it was the money that they used under the Spanish rule in Western Sahara.

    Italy entered War II and Libya became the setting for the North African Campaign
    The war began in 1940 and went on for three years. The war took place across the desert and each force was very aggressive in fighting. Fighting started when Italy declared war on the allied nations. This was a huge turning point for Libya and had huge effects on people around and involved. There were many struggles with the war. One being a lack of resources and material to fight with. Another one being the military forces from america not entering and helping until two years into the war.

    First civil war led by a southern separatist begins

    The first civil war in South Sudan is very significant because it sadly took many lives. Around 500,000 lives were taken in the war and many others were forced to leave their homes. Even after this big event, it caused another great war called the Second Sudanese War. Towards the end of the war, a peace agreement ended up being signed. Luckily, South Sudan was able to have independance around six years after the war.

    The event that we chose for Morrocco was when they gained independence from France and Spain in 1956 even though Spain still held on to some colonies. This drastically changed people's lives because they no longer had to follow France and Spain's rule. In morocco, they finally had the freedom to become their own country and live how they wanted to. This picture is very significant because it shows the date of the Moroccan independence manifesto was made.

    The Nile River would continually flood every year, but sadly this time it was an extreme flood that ended up taking around 400,00 lives. When the river flooded, it affected may lives because the water also destroyed their homes and even led to people being killed from it. The reason for the Nile River flooding was because the large amounts of rain and melted snow made it overflow and they weren't able to control it.
