Birth of a Hero
On July 18, 1918 Nelson Mandela was born in the village Mvezo In South Africa the capital of Transkei. He was born into a family of 13 children with both parents where his father was Gadla Henry Mphakanyiswa who was the counsellor to the king of Thembu. This is important because this would lead to a successful life and him becoming the first black head of state and the President of South Africa.

Rivonia Trial
This Is the most notable trial for Nelson Mandela is the Rivonia trial which lasted about eight months where he was sentenced to 44 years. This sentence came after he was accused of starting violence and sabotage. This is important because no one would wants to go to jail, especially for 27 years especially for expressing yourself.

In 1990 Nelson Mandela was let out of prison after de Klerk removed a ban on African congress and Mandela was released. Then In 1993 Nelson Mandela won the Nobel Peace Prize. Then from 1994 to 1999 Mandela was elected President of South Africa . These are all extremely important like becoming the most powerful man in South Africa or winning one of the biggest awards and being released from prison.

Death
