  • The CRASH

    The CRASH
My siblings were in charge of me this day and around 4 pm we received a call saying that my parents were in a horrific car crash. Not only did they panic and of course cry, but they all knew in themselves that raising me would now be their responsibility. When the tow truck came to our house, to our surprise both of my parents were perfectly fine and without a scratch. This day not only marks the day that I almost lost my parents but a day that none of my siblings would forget.
  • Pre-K: Picture Day

    Pre-K: Picture Day
Living in a Spanish speaking household, Spanish was the only language that I could understand and speak and when I entered into Pre-K I struggled and had to take ESL classes, however, my older brother put the responsibility onto himself to teach me English. When this picture from picture day arrived at my house all of my siblings were in tears because with the help of my family I finally caught up with my other classmates.
  • Toothpaste Yum!

    Toothpaste Yum!
My parents always bought me bubble gum flavored toothpaste and ever since I learned how to properly brush my teeth, I fell in love with the taste. I loved it so much that I decided to eat the entire tube, my sister took this minutes after I finished eating the entire tube and obviously, not knowing the consequences I had bad stomachaches for weeks.
  • Whale Watching In MA

    Whale Watching In MA
One tradition that will never get old is our yearly trip to Massachusetts to see my uncle, but when I was 5 my parents decided to send my sisters and me on a trip to go whale watching, this was the very first time that I saw a pod of dolphins and whales, a moment I will never forget.
  • First Day of 1st Grade

    First Day of 1st Grade
The summer before, my brother bought me a workbook that was a summary of everything that I would learn in 1st grade. Him knowing that being in a new environment, I would become shy and fall back so he believed that by exposing me to all the material I would learn in that following school year, it would make me feel more comfortable. The first day was not only a success but when I got off the school bus my parents surprised me by waiting with my dog which ended the day perfectly.
  • Vroom Vroom

    Vroom Vroom
My brother owned a gold Mustang GT 2003, a car that I absolutely fell in love with, he always knew that I aspired to be just like him. Ever since he purchased that car he promised me that if I got into my top college when I was older then he would give me his car. Of course in hopes of that day to come, he also decided to surprise me by buying a gift that I would cherish forever, a convertible toy car and oh you can imagine my excitement!
  • Uh Oh!

    Uh Oh!
Ever since I turned 9, I believed I was a strong independent little girl and one day when my family went food shopping with me, my siblings thought it would be a good prank if they left me by myself to see how I would react. Of course, they stood nearby and didn't completely leave me alone but that day I cried like crazy. My siblings obviously got in trouble for playing that joke on me but when my parents yelled at them I just sat there and smiled, as my own little payback.
  • 8th Birthday Mishap

    8th Birthday Mishap
The day that I finally turned 8 has come, I was extremely excited because my family bought me two separate cakes. Me having an extreme sweet tooth, I ate two big pieces from both, something I would regret. For the next couple of days, my family and I had extremely painful stomach pains and thought it was a virus. So we each visited our doctors and later came to the conclusion that one of the cakes that we bought was very old and expired.
  • Late Night Swim

    Late Night Swim
During the summer when we went to go visit my uncle in Massachusetts, my parents decided to go on a mini cruise on a boat for one night and two days leaving my siblings in charge of me. Being 8 years old I cried for my parents and my sisters feeling bad for me, were searching for a way to cheer me up. Ever since I was little I always loved the beach so my siblings surprised me by taking me to the beach late at night with some torches to make a little campsite along with my uncle and his family.

My grandma always came to visit my family from Peru, she is definitely a hero that I will always look up to because she raised me for part of my life. We found out that she was diagnosed with Gastric cancer, this resulted in her malnutrition because she always felt full and never ate. She always arrived to the United States around the time for her birthday and we tried our hardest to make each visit memorable because we knew that she wasn't going to be with us for a long time.
  • Christmas Say Cheese!

    Christmas Say Cheese!
When my family first moved to Brewster we immediately became friends with my neighbor, ever since I was little Kiley and I were raised together and were practically like sisters. Every year around Christmas time, Kiley and I would always get our picture taken next to Santa in the mall and we still continue this tradition until this day. Certainly, it gets a bit embarrassing when we stand in line next to a bunch of little kids but the tradition lives on.
