Annual Family Camping Extravaganza!
When August rolls around every year, my entire family packs up our gear and some delicious food and takes off into forest for a week long vacation. My cousins and I will be looking forward to it for months ahead, giddy with anticipation. Being tucked away in the woods surrounded by family, the wind rustling through the towering pines, the glorious smell of that crackling campfire; it is very nearly the happiest I am all year. -
Joining Lonesome Valley Wranglers 4-H Club
Joining the local 4-H club set my life on a path that I am forever thankful for. To me, it was so much more than just showing livestock; it taught me how to be organized in my daily life, how to lead and how to follow, how to be supportive and a good sport, win or lose, and it taught me how to deliver a compelling speech without a quiver of fear. There were ups and there were downs, but with the all that was learned and the amazing friends made, every bit was worth it. -
Hayley's Death
Losing Hayley was the most shock filled moment of my life. My family is a close one, especially all of us cousins, we could spend years apart and all of us come back together like we've never missed a day. The news of the car crash alone was terrifying, the news that came after was numbing; the feeling of being completely lost and so out of control is simply indescribable. Hays was a beautiful, amazing person and she lives on in the entire family's memories. -
Presenting at Professional Writers of Prescott
The Professional Writers of Prescott is a rather large sum of talented, published writers; all of them very confident in their works and love presenting them without a moments hesitation. Although a member of this group, I am a total fledgling, unpublished and extremely reserved in sharing my works. They convinced me to read a chapter from my unfinished novel, for the first time, to anyone; it was so incredibly terrifying and yet so incredibly worth it! It unleashed my true writers passion. -
Adopting Hotshot
I adopted my filly, Hotshot, or Hottie as she's affectionately know, from a local horse rescue that my family has close ties with. With this young, attitude filled horse, I have found that one in a million connection. I trust her wholeheartedly, just as she trusts me and together we rule the world, or so she thinks; we'll be partners in crime till the end of our days. -
Diagnosis and Life Change
I was diagnosed via blood testing with food allergies too numerous to list, the most severe among them being wheat, gluten, and corn. Discovering how much just these few ingredients appear in processed foods prompted a drastic life change. It was extremely difficult at first, but I managed to completely change my diet and now am a much healthier and happier person. -
A Successful Hunt
The family on my dad's side are all avid hunters, we believe in providing food for our families and in being responsible for what we harvest; my time came to join the mighty hunters and I was thrilled. We had been hunting elk for days now, rising before the sun, heading out into the forest, seeing nothing, lather rinse repeat; then one morning a herd crested over the hill and both my father and I were triumphant in our hunt. The thrill and responsibility of it is an experience I'll never forget. -
My First Realationship
This year I am experiencing the ups and downs and total awkwardness of my first relationship. So far I am discovering that being with someone who you really care about is almost like a blissful hell. You love them, there's no denying it, but sometimes the struggles you go through are down right tear inducing; I've learned a lot about my boyfriend and even more about myself through it all and I'm just overjoyed that we can be our weird nerdy selves around each other. -
Arizona Extreme Mustang Makeover
Competing in the Extreme Mustang Makeover as a youth meant getting a wild yearling and completely taming and training him in just under a hundred days. It's an extremely stressful challenge, though not as physically as you might think, it was my own brain that was slowly killing me. I regretfully say that the majority of those hundred days were riddled with stressing thoughts; worrying of falling behind, and what others thought of me. Still, we made it to competition and gave it our best shot. -
Horse Accident
Recently I made some bad horsemanship choices, and got on a problem horse that bucked me off onto a fence and it ended with me in the ER and a severe wound on my back. That day changed a lot of things for me; I wanted to be a professional horse trainer, and I was planning to go to an equine school. I had several horses at my house for breaking. The accident instilled a lot of fears in me yes, but it also made me rethink what I wanted to do as a career, and therefore brought me to a crossroads.
