  • Playstation 2

    Playstation 2
The Playstation 2 was released on March 4th, 2000 by Sony. I was 8 years old. What do all 8 year old love to do, even in today's society? Play games. I was blessed to have been raised by loving parents who worked hard to earn money for my family. This gave me the luxury of getting most everything I wanted. I was the coolest kid in my friend group, because I was the first to get a Playstation 2. The Playstation brought my friends and I together to create a stronger bond.
  • Sony Ericsson Flip Phone

    Sony Ericsson Flip Phone
My first cell phone, the Sony Ericsson Flip Phone with Cingular Wireless. My parents had a Nokia for a while, but I was in 6th grade and wanted a phone. The flip phone was the new cool thing. Having a cell phone allowed me stay in contact with my friends and gave me independence from my family. Every kid in school either had or wanted a cell phone.
  • MySpace

    MySpace
MySpace started in 2003 as the first social network to reach a global audience and had a big influence on technology, pop culture and music. For me, it was where I kept my friends. The obsession of who is in your top 8 was real. Why aren't I one of your best friends? MySpace also paved the way for my interest in coding, because we were able to design our page. I had snowflakes falling from the top, music playing, many different things.
  • iPod Nano

    iPod Nano
Music was/is HUGE for Generation Y. Moving past our cd players and on to digital (and using not so legal software to download music). Apple released the iPod Nano. There were already iPods released, but this was small, unique and colorful. I had the green one, I got it for Christmas. No more holding my CD case full of music, I had it all in my pocket.
  • Facebook

    Facebook
I was a part of MySpace, but that was quickly becoming old news. The new thing was Facebook. I joined Facebook in 2009. I was a Junior in High School. It was the new cool thing to do. I used it somewhat how I think Twitter is used today, as a status update. 3rd person typing Brandon Taylor - is waiting for so and so to go to the mall. This was our outlet. I still get reminders today of things I posted back in 2009 and it's interesting to see the development. Also, who didn't love Farmville?
