    Miguel Hidalgo gathers people and makes his iconic "grito de Dolores" marking the beginning of the independence movement for Mexico.

    Hidalgo led a large, furious mob to the gates of Guanajuato. Nobody had complete power over the mob and they wrecked the city, chipping at the legitimacy of the movement.

    Battle fought in the mountains between Toluca and Mexico city. The battle shifted in favor of the insurgents, but Hidalgo decided to retreat, giving the Spaniards breathing room and extenfing the war by years.

    Pivotal battle in the independence movement. Followed by the retreat at Mexico city, forces clashed again at the Calderon Bridge. Insurgents were defeated and their leaders betrayed and captured. Took years for the movement to have a realistic shot at winning again.

    The captured leaders of the independence were betrayed and captured. At this date, they were tried and sentenced. Most were executed on the spot, but Hidalgo needed to be stripped of his religious title before being killed.

    Army led by Jose María Morelos fought the spanish once again. They lost the battle and Morelos was executed shortly after. Battle took place atTemalaca, Puebla.

    Plan de iguala, or the plan of the three guarantees was created. This stated that Mexico would become a constitutional monarchy with Agustin de Iturbide as the emperor. The plan was backed up by the army of the three guarantees.

    Mexico was officially victorious over Spain at this time. Agustin de Iturbide was smart about it and became the emperor of Mexico. What Hidalgo started ended as he wanted.
