    Miguel Hidalgo, Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez, Juan Aldama, Ignacio Allende and a few others started to plan the Independence movement. They did a “literary club” so that the Spaniards wouldn’t suspect anything. They wanted to have everything perfect so that they would succeed in getting rid of the peninsulares.

  • The Traitor

    Marino Galvan spread the news to his superiors, who later turned in the information to the audencia. After that they searched the house of Epigmenio Gonzalez and found weapons so they ordered an arrest.
  • Grito de Dolores

    Grito de Dolores
    Doña Josefa told Ignacio Perez to spread the news about the arrest to Ignacio Allende. They did not find him so the news was passed to Juan Aldama, who later told father Hidalgo. They thought they would end up arrested so they decided to act fast so Hidalgo rang the church bells to gather the town people. Hidalgo gave his speech which name is Grito de Dolores and after that the independence started.

    Hidalgo arrived to Guanajuato, who was joined by many workers from the mines. The Spanish locked themselves in the Alhondiga de Granaditas and Juan Jose de los Reyes Martinez Amaro was the hero because he took the door down to set everything on fire. Most of the gachupines were killed.

    Hidalgo and Allende took over the army and decided to split it, they took over Zacatecas, San Luis Potosi, and Valladolid. Thus battle took action in Monte de las Cruces and won, which proved that they could win over the peninsulares.

    The Insurgents where defeated in the Battle of Calderon Bridge, which was between them and the Spanish Royalists.

    Hidalgo was executed by Spanish Royalists in Chihuahua
  • Puebla's Battle

    Jose Maria Morelos was the leader of the battle of Temalaca which took place in Puebla. He ended up being captured and executed.
  • Plan de Iguala

    Plan de Iguala was now going to me implemented after several meetings, it consists of three aspects
    The criollos and peninsulares would be treated equally
    Catholicism would still be practiced
    The crown would be offered to a european prince

    The End
    After 11 consecutive years The Mexican Independence War was finally over. Agustin de Iturbide became an emperor and it was the start of the Mexican Empire.
