Conspiracy
The mexican people were tired of being mistreated and of losing their money to the Spanish crown.They were jealous of the peninsulares and wanted to be socially equal to them.However, they believed the only way to achieve this was through the Independence movement.Therefore,Miguel Hidalgo,Allende and Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez, decided to create a fake book club where they would conspire against the Spanish and fight for Independence.This was important because it marked the beginning of the plan. -
Captured central figures that were part of a conspiracy.
After realizing about the Spanish´s discovery of the conspiracies, Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez decided to send Ignacio Perez to inform Hidalgo and save the movement while also saving themselves. Originally the plan was to send for Allende, but Allende could not be there in order to take the message.This was very important because due to this issue, the Mexican Independence was advanced 4 months before the original date of the movement. -
El grito de dolores
Upon hearing the news,Hidalgo noticed that his options were limited.He could either chose to call off the revolution and wait for his capture and murder,or rather quickly organize the citizens and begin with the movement.In the end,he decided to proceed with the Independence with hope and rang the church bells and perform loud cries of battle attempting to gather the insurgents and unite them in the fight for their freedom.It is essential to the Independence since it was when the fight started. -
Mexican insurgents tried to conquer Guanajuato
After gathering the people,Hidalgo decided to lead his armed troops into the city of Guanajuato.Experienced a counterattack from the Spanish who quickly readied themselves for battle.In an attempt to stop the rebels from entering the granary,the Spanish formed a fort around it to prevent the entering of the Mexicans.After battling the the mexicans for some time,the insurgents managed to enter the granary and kill every Spaniard in sight.Was a memorable date because it marked a great massacre. -
Battle of Monte de las Cruzes.
The rebels ended up winning the massacre and Hidalgo then led them to attack the capital.The rebel army and the Spanish army collided in Monte de las Cruces where they fought vigorously.Hidalgo was the one commanding the troops along with Allende's help.The battle resulted in the Mexicans´victory.Hidalgo was afraid of the insurgents and the possibility of the complete destruction of the capital,decided to continue the fighting in Guadalajara.Would be remembered one of Hidalgo´s biggest mistakes. -
Battle of Calderón bridge
Calleja and his troops met the insurgents the moment they were lined up in the Calderon Bridge,ready to enter the city.Spanish had advantage of being well prepared for battle and having very good fighting tactics,which helped them resist the movement.The outcome of the battle was settled the moment an accidental explosion broke out in the Mexicans´ammunition,and knowing they were going to lose the war,the rebels left the battle scene.It was a great loss to the insurgents fighting in the movement -
Hidalgo was captured and executed
Even though many rebels were able to escape, Hidalgo and Allende were both captured and found guilty. On July 31st, 1811 Both Hidalgo and Allende were immediately executed. Before death, it is known that Hidalgo thanked two of his soldiers claiming that people would remember him. Hidalgo and Allende’s heads were later placed display in Guadalajara as a sign of victory for the Spanish. This event was important for it was a catastrophic loss of two of the movement's best leaders. -
Battle of Temalaca
A battle between the spanish and the mexican forces was fought in Temalaca, Puebla. In the end, it was won by the Spanish, Jose Maria Morelos was captured and, like Hidalgo before him, the leader was executed. This was officially the end of the second phase of the war, and its importance lies upon the death of yet another great leader of the Mexican Independence. -
Plan of Iguala
Agustin and Vicente,made a peaceful agreement with each other and decided to create The Plan of Iguala.It was made with the intention of spreading 3 crucial objectives: a constitutional monarchy governing the country,the mexican´s agreement with only the tolerance of a roman catholic religion and the agreement that mexico would be recognized as independent from Spain where everyone would be unite and be treated with equality.This is important because this plan proposed a new life for the people. -
Consummation of independence
The Consummation of Independence was an agreement signed by O´Donojú in the treaty of Cordoba, also known as the Plan de Iguala, where Mexico would come to be recognized as a free and equal country. This treaty regarded issues related to the freedom of the people, a new religious system and the equality and unity of the citizens. Although this marked the end of the Mexican Independence, later on the new governing system would prove to be unstable, creating social tensions between the people.
