Undid all the changes under Edward VI and restored the religious situation to that of 1547 under the act of six articles. By the end of the year Mary had give up her title of supreme head of the church. There was no sense of opposition really, the Wyatt's rebellion occurred but it is widely concluded this was caused by the marriage -

Protestant bishops were removed and bishops had to remove married clergy from office (this removed almost 1/4 of parish clergy
It aimed to supress heresy and only ordain clergy who had been ordained under the English ordinal
Catholic traditions e.g. holy days and attendant ceremonies were restored. -

Cardinal Pole finally arrived in England to restore papal authority and remove the royal supremacy. The delay of his arrival suggested that there were concerns about his safety before this date -

This abolishes all post-1529 legislation concerning religious matters in England
This act protected with property rights of those who had brought church land since 1536. Not only did this demonstrate that Mary had to recognise the authority of parliament in religious matters but it would also prevent a full scale restoration of Catholicism as there could not be a large number of monasteries re-funded -

Restoration of heresy laws (second attempt)
This resulted in leading protestants being tried for heresy being found guilty and executed. The first burning at the stake took place on February 4th 1555 -
