Poland remained under Germanys control until Janurary, 1945. Hitler said that Germany invading Poland would bring "Lebensraum" or living space, for the Germans. The effects of the invasion were obviously causing WW2, the end of the second Polish Republic, and the death of about 65,000 Polish Troops.

The agreement stated that for the exchange of 50 obsolete destroyers, Britain would give the United States 99 year leases to territory in Bermuda and the Caribbean, that the U.S used for military bases. The thing that caused this agreement was the fact that Roosevelt wanted to give Britain the destroyers, but knew that Congress would oppose. An effect of this was the Lend-Lease Agreement.
