  • Start of the Haitian Revolution

    Start of the Haitian Revolution
    The Haitian Revolution began when nearly 500,000 enslaved Africans worked on French plantations and their masters used brutal forced upon them from having power since the slaves outnumbered their own masters. The oppressed people in the French colony rose up against against their masters. In August 1791, the Haitian Revolution began with Toussaint L’Ouverture as their once enslaved leader.
  • End of the Haitian Revolution

    The Revolution was successful in 1804, January 1st. But before that in 1802, 30,000 French troops landed to remove power from Toussaint (the leader). Toussaint thought the war would end in May, to end slavery. But he died in 1803, April. So his lieutenant rose and took power for him and fought for slavery himself. He was successful when in 1804 Haiti was the first black colony to free themselves from control.

    It began in 1808 when Napoleon made his brother King of Spain. But no one felt any loyalty to the king whom was imposed by the French. In 1810, a rebellion broke out in several parts of Latin America; which caused the drive to independence.

    It started when Miguel Hidalgo took the first step into getting independence; he gave ideas and issued for rebellion towards the Spanish.
  • End of the South America Revolution

    At first, this revolution was not successful. Their leader Miguel Hidalgo died in 1811, but the rebels rallied to another strong leader, José Maria Morelos. He led the revolution for 4 years. And he, like the other leader, died as well. But In 1820 Agustin de Iturbide (the person to defeated Morelos) ironically proclaimed independence in 1821.

    It was successful, because in 1824, December 9 the major war for independence from the Spanish was taken. And so Latin America won their freedom for future countries.
