The Haitian Revolution Begins
The Haitian revolution began with Toussaint L'Ouverture leading the Haitian slaves into many battles against the French. The Haitians had gone to the slave master's houses slitting their throats. The did this until they had enough soldiers to confront the French in battle. L'Ouverture and his men had taken over the land by the year 1801. -
The Haitian Revolution Ends
After the death of L'Ouverture, Jean-Jacques Dessalines, L'Ouverture's lieutenant, again fought for the Haitian's freedom. He had declared their independence and made history by being the first black colony to gain freedom. Dessalines had named the land Haiti. -
The Mexican Revolution Begins
Miguel Hidalgo, a religious leader, had rang the bell of his village's church calling the village, of Indians and Mestizos, to him. He had spoken to them encouraging them to fight against the Spanish rule. The speech is known as grito de dolores. -
The South American Revolution Begins
Simon Bolivar, a creole, lead Venezuela into battle. Bolivar dreamed of uniting south america under their rule and not Spain's. Jose de san martin lead Argentina into many battles believing they could gain Independence. -
The Mexican Revolution Ends
After fighting many battles, the Mexicans had lost their rights to Spain. Ironically Agustin de Iturbide, who had fought and defeated the Mexicans, declared independence for the Mexicans. -
The Brazilian Revolution Begins
After defeating Napoleon The Portugal leaders agreed to put Brazil back to its colonial state. The Brazilians as, creoles with little power compared to the leaders, said no and began a petition. -
The Brazilian Revolution Ends
After successfully signing a petition the Portugal leader, Dom Pedro, accepted giving Brazil its independence. -
The South American Revolution Ends
After coming to an agreement San Martin allowed Bolivar to lead his men into victory. In the battle of Ayacucho Bolivar and Martin's men defeated Spain gaining independence.
